According to some reporters it was said that the press were about to publish something about Gary Speed. But was pulled due to his suicide? Now whatever has happened, nothing can surely be that bad, that he needed to take his own life.

    Anybody know anything

All I know is that journalists are cancerous scum, and will distort a story and mislead the public to sell papers

Glad they've pulled whatever story they were going to run. I said yesterday that I thought there would be some
cr%p come out about this. Seems as though its been pulled... for now. Let's hope it stays that way as much for his family as for his memory.

I must admit that when i heard the news, my first thought was that something was about to break that woulod be salacious and unsavoury.

Cant think of anything else that would drive this decent man to such extremes.

    ****ing gutter press.

Press ethics are being discussed daily so it wouldn't be surprising if someone, somewhere put two and two together to make five - trying to make sense of something that outwardly makes no sense. Then it goes on Twitter and two and two make five million.

The longer it stays out of the press, whatever it may be, the better. His family should be allowed to grieve in peace. Let's hop 'Wall fans don't kick off on Saturday during the minute's applause/silence.

To more pressing matters, let's hope tomorrow the lads will turn in a performance as a tribute. Seems the way that they can perform away from home, but seem to have difficulties unlocking defences when teams come to ER & park a bus. We didn't play particularly well on Saturday. But their two goals were a bit fortunate. What was of more concern was the lack of chances we created.

    Finger out time team/SG.

If its another ryan giggs, then he may have taken out a super injuction. Unfortunately if social networks find out, then it could be game over and maybe that was his fear! or maybe his wife was having an affair and he couldnt stand it anymore.

but a reporter today from the guardian thinks his phone might have been tapped!

I don't think it is time for ANY of us to speculate. None of us are perfect and no matter what it was or might have been it isn't worth a loss of life just a terrible shame.

Spot on Ristac. Less said the better. Let's just hope we can put on suitable performances against Forest & the 'Wall, celebrate Speed's life with 2 victories.

The unsubstantiated rumour is that the press were going to out him as gay. Meaningless unless it can be proven, and hardly worth even discussing unless something comes to light.

I was going to say time will tell 18. But probably better that time doesn't tell & it remains a mystery. I'm sure his family would not want to have to deal with the furore in the press if such a story were true & ever came to light. Let's move on & look forward to celebrating his life with two good wins this week.

Please do not add any further "rumours" to this thread.

Please wait will the official report comes out after a decent period of reflection for his family.

Chris Kamara - Touching interview but Chris clearly knows something is not right...

I don't care what it was, Gary Speed's family deserves nothing more than privacy at this time & in the future...

However if (and I mean if) a newspaper has called him to try to get something private confirmed, then this person / paper clearly has blood on their hands and should be held to account in time...

Whatever it is that he felt so strongly over to take his own life, it's not the business of the press or the public. Depression and mental illness is often illogical and his memory should be preserved and his family should be allowed privacy.

Not sure which is the lesser of two evils! Not knowing 'why' could be as devastating & destructive as knowing! Hopefully he is now at peace and his loved ones can find a way thru the pain!!!
