    Damb stats eh?

six wins, one loss, twenty goals scored, six goals conceded

Anything jump out at you? (Hopefully no mistakes...) Two things for me though:

1.John Terry was the only player on the pitch for all four goals conceded

This is the type of thing that makes me avoid stats like the clap!

I have been saying since the middle of last season, he could turn out to be better than Drogba and that is some compliment.

    Agreed <ok>

He's 20 and the most promising young striker in the league by a mile. Going to be immense in a couple of years....

All in all I ,take from these stats the idea that we are looking good in almost every position. Glad it's Jose and not me who has to sort out a starting 11.
Think we will see plenty of different line ups this season, but all playing the same style with seamless changes of players.
    Can't be bad.

Let me put this in perspective.

Drogba, while not consistently prolific, nor particularly skilful, was a superhero-type character, being one of the greatest big game players there has ever been. Some players have an aura of legend about them, Drogba demonstrating this none more so than in the champs league final, scoring the 88th minute equaliser and then as luck (or as legend) would have it, being in a position to score the winning penalty. Add that to the fact that in the trophy run, he had given away penalties to arguably the best two sides in the world, one taken by arguably the greatest player the world has ever seen, yet somehow both penalties were fluffed, and you begin to draw the inescapable conclusion that our European win was not only written for us, but preordained for him.

Not to mention his many other critical contributions in key games, fate smiles upon, and history revolves around, individuals like Drogba.

It is still way too early to tell if Lukaku is similarly guided by destiny. I would happily accept 25 goals a season for the next 5, but that does not imply Lukaku will be able to forge a legend as great as Drogba's. Time will tell.

I don't agree. Apart from always trying to win free kicks/injuries Drogba is one of the best strikers the Prem League has ever had, up there with Henry and Berkamp (<grr>). Lukaku looks a fantastic prospect, but way too early to put him up with Drogba. At the moment my heart doesn't stop every time Lukaku has the ball like it did with the other 3.

Edit: or I could have just agreed with Beluga if I'd seen that post <ok>

I think I may have to agree with that! If we still had a 27 year old Drogba we wouldn't be hunting down Rooney! I have a feeling though that Lukaku will provide us with a lot of happy moments! <ok>

Torres is rubbish for Chelsea. Shocker.

I quite fancy Lukaku for fantasy football but do you think he will he get the minutes?

Very well put Beluga. There are many who score for fun, but few who achieve the status of Drogba. It's all about fate, and he was feted for greatness and legend.
Lukaku can start by scoring the goals we all hope he will score.

Ba also had a great record, near equal to Lukaku's, so maybe it is Torres that needs to go, but then Torres played only against the Milans, Madrid and Roma, am I right.

In those games Lukaku has only one goal against Roma and Torres and Ba failed to score

With Oscar, Hazard, De Bruyne, Schurrle and Ramires and Lamps scoring our goals we are still reliant on midfielders in big games.

Think you may have all misunderstood me, I wasn`t refering to the goals Lukaku may or may not score when comparing him to Drogba. I think he has an aura of power and confidence about him not unlike Drogba which at 20 is a scary thought, if he matures the way Drogba did (remember he was mid-late 20s when he hit peak) he could be even better than him, though as pointed out circumstancies can make or break a player where legend status is concerned.
