It strikes me this morning that its no coincidence we will have no clubs in the last 8 of the champions league and the other competition we are faring just as bad . It means that we are paying out to much money for third rate players ,one gets better value in the lower leagues . Look how long it took for Liverpool to beat Cardiff looking at the game you couldn,t tell which was the premiership team . Its time now for salaries to be slashed let tham go to China and Tibuktoo for their mega pay deals football in this country should get back to basics take leaf out and I never thought I would say this but follow the BATES formula by paying less than 40% of gate receipts as wages . This will not only help our home grown talent but will greatly assist the international team as well We can also put a cap on the number of foreigners playing to say 3 per teamthis will also help Let the dogs of war ply their trade somewhere else we don,t want anymore Rangers Pompey situations. I think you're spot on. I'd be quite happy to see the quality of football in England deteriorate if it meant the huge-earners and greed left the game and football was brought closer to the fans once more. Wage caps, transfer caps, the ending of 'image rights' payments, the immediate sacking of all independent agents, and foreign player quotas are definitely needed. Players should be represented by a FIFA agent whose job is solely to handle legal/contractual matters with player transfers, not to haggle for insane wages and bonuses which inflate the price of everything. Most of all, TV money should be directed away from wage payments, by any means necessary. That's the great evil that's engulfed English football. If we set a good example, the rest of the world will follow.
I think you're spot on too. It's not only the england team that's suffered, it's the Scotland team too. We used to have loads of greats Scots plying their trade in england & both england & Scotland benefited from it. Once the foreign johnies started chasing the money in here, we both suffered. You guys are a little luckier than us though - our team has been crap for years. You're not quite that bad. Yet. We must be careful, though. We can't let football ****** back into the bad old days of £20 a week caps etc. It's got to be reasonable all round. My Dad used to work in the shipyards in Glasgow, and 'professional' players used to take part in the 50-a-side lunchtime kickabouts, complete with overalls and steel toecap boots. Apparently some of the tackles would have put the likes of Chopper Harris to shame. But they still played! Loved their football more than the weekly (crap) football wage. they'd also get the same bus as the fans to the stadium. suspect most footballers these days think all buses are like their team coach. One other thing - I have no problem with a player having an agent, but they should be like showbiz agents - they only get paid by the player. FIFA should outlaw clubs paying them any money. They're blood seeking leeches that only exist to make money-making opportunities. They put nothing into football - they take it all out.
If we don't have any representative in the last 8 of CL, how long will it be before we are allowed only 3 entries instead of 4. I'm sure we were upped to 4 because we had done so well in previous years. The shi* will really hit the fan if its only the top 3 in PL qualify. Personally I can't wait.

Try this, pick your Eng starting eleven, put that team to one side, now pick your next eleven to fill the slots for injury and suspension. See? No quality to scare the world. Argentina can bring Tevez off the bench for example, the Dutch can roll out Huntelaar for last 20 mins, Germany can afford to start Podolski on the bench. Eng don't have that luxury because there are too few English lads playing for the top clubs or competing in Champs Lge. FIFA need to get rid of Champs Lge and go back to Champions only, and if they want to do it in group format ok, but I prefer they go back to old school knock-out over two legs and if you **** up bye bye. The current format is laughable and purely designed to make rich clubs richer. Come on, there are teams competing who have never been champions in their own leagues. Imagine if Stoke City had a cracking season and burgled fourth, suddenly the non-champions of England are playing in a "Champions Lge". ****ing joke competition that is killing football faster than I can shout Bates Out!!
