Which league would you rather watch City play in? This is obviously removing the financial benefits of being promoted and being able to watch the highlights an hour earlier. I like the unpredictability and competitiveness of the championship, but the chance to see the worlds best players is a plus. Whats your thoughts? Just wondering if i am alone in thinking this?
Finances aside, it's the championship for me. I love the competitiveness of this league despite not seeing the world's best, plus I enjoy us winning games quite often! But the prem is the promised land, don't think we'll get to see the likes of Elmo in a city shirt again if we don't get promoted.
Championship every time, the Premier League is only any good if you can compete in it, 90% of Teams are just making up the numbers
The Premiership. We need to be at the highest level possible for the sake of the future of the club and this city. If I want to be entertained, I'll go to the circus.
Threads like this should be banned - pop up every year. We all know we want 40 000 in the stadium and the top four teams in town. It is huge for the city, and is where it is all at! Yes, in pure football terms the ride is better in the lower leagues, but it is always the ugly sister of the big league. Think of all the away trips... This thread should be locked as it is just an unwelcome distraction listening to the same old argument that football is lovely in the lower leagues. Have some balls and show some ambition!!
I would question the sanity of anyone who does not want to see HCFC in the Premiership. If beating Torquay and Walsall does it for you, may I courteously invite you to head over the bridge to Glansford Park,
Totally agree...I've been buying my season pass for 108 years & want more of the cream....Europe before I die, and not via the FA cup !!
I've never once said that we shouldn't aim for the premiership, every team is! People who complain about legitimate threads should be banned. Get the cork out your arse.
Yo yo club, Premiership minnow etc It's the only way this club and city will make any progress or grow. It's also the best way medium to long term to eradicate the local perversions of "RL & Top4" which have so blighted this city in recent decades. In town I'm still seeing teenagers in Liverpool or Man U tops. Why, ffs? They can't all be being groomed by their weak and cowardly fathers.
Yea bc 3-0 to Bolton could turn into 3-3, 3-0 to Man City would probably turn into 6-0 to Man City. When we were in the Prem it got depressing that we basically never won a game. I remember getting super excited if we drew. Highlights like the game against tottenham, liverpool, arsenal, the loss against Man U even were great but having our top scorer only bag 6 goals was hard. I prefer the Championship since ever game we have a really good shot at winning. That said the Prem is televised so I will get to watch it week in and week out. I want us to go up for sure but if both were televised and treated the same by the sports channels than I would hardly feel bad about us being in the Championship. It is all theoretical since both leagues are not treated the same.
Premier league for me .... Packed stadium. More cash . Much better for the City of Hull. We won't **** up with the Allams in charge . IMO Though of course the championship isn't to bad...
But that's a glory-hunter mindset. "Don't care what level we're at as long as win". If we go up, we may well get caned again on a weekly basis and get relegated. Then we will try and get up again, and one day we will stay up. No pain, no gain.
No I dont think it is glory hunter mindset. I dont mind losing, losing every week isnt fun though. I think a lot of people want to go to the PL so they can watch us play against Man U. How many bandwagon fans joined up just to see that and then left when we were relegated? How many of those will come back if we go up? I am just saying that I dont care about Man U or liverpool or any of the rest. I care about us not who we play and I do prefer it when we have a chance at winning every day. Like I said it is all theoretical since both leagues are not treated the same. So in some make believe world in which they are treated the same I wouldnt mind if we were in the Champ. You cant call me a glory hunter because the person who posted this tread presented a situation that doesnt exist. Clearly in this world I do want us to go up and hopefully if we do we we approach it better this time and either stay up or put ourselves in a position to yo-yo between leagues for a bit and then stay up.
I didn't call you a glory-hunter, I identified a glory-hunter train of thought. I have no interest in watching any opposition players or teams, I just want us to be at highest level possible- it's as simple as that.........
I think people are about 5 years behind when they fuel this idea that the football is more entertaining in the lower leagues. What exactly is it that's so entertaining about the Championship? I don't know about the bottom two leagues, but the Championship is ****e. How many games have been thoroughly enjoyable in the last 2 and a half years we've been in this league? It might be true that 90% of PL teams can't win the title, but 90% of Championship teams can't do anything more than pack the midfield, time-waste and play for a draw. It's a totally ****e league. The only thing going for it is unpredictability which is great for your neutral armchair fan but for us lot who are passionate about City, what is so great about unexpectedly going 3-0 down at Bolton for example? It's not like no one outside of Manchester wins matches in the PL is it? We beat Arsenal, Drew with Chelsea and Liverpool twice each and scored 3 at Old Trafford. Southampton battered Man City a few weeks ago, Newcastle came from 4-0 down to draw 4-4 against Arsenal. Some of the most amazing moments in football are in the PL. It's a total myth that the Premiership is just about getting whipped every week just like it's a myth that the Championship is all entertainment.
It's not more entertaining, but at least there's a chance you'll win a game. Plus, if you support anyone other than Hull City there's a chance you can win by 3, 4 or 5 in most matches.
