The Premier League is to request a court order forcing internet service providers to block a popular football streaming website before the next season.

The League wants ISPs to cut off access to FirstRow1.eu, which operates from Sweden.

Streaming is theft, no different to making knock off Louis Vuitton bags, or pirate DVD's.

If we all want the Premier League money, we have to protect those who invest millions in buying the rights that fund those millions.

Unfortunately, most find buying fake and illegal goods perfectly acceptable. Primark are the fastest growing retailer in the UK, so people obviously don't care that the factories that supply them pay their workers almost nothing and even hundreds of deaths in collapsing buildings aren't enough to trigger the conscience of most.

Personally, I find IP theft and product theft no different to burgalry.

    Yeah, I agree with you.

Although I don't like the fact i'm giving money to companies that are destroying the game.

That's the other side of the coin and is also fair comment.

In New Zealand all major sporting events are shown by SKY. Great coverage but no options on what you get, you either have a sports package or movies or both etc. This week a new player came on the market and secured the rights to the Premier League. Now the only country in the world where every game played is streamed live and you choose what you watch. Of course it comes at a price but the way sport is being watched is changing, the Premier League are only interested in revenue and streaming games is now encouraged.

I'd agree that its not legal, in fact its well illegal, but when the only other alternatives are to:

    - pay sky 300 pounds a year for (possibly) about 6-8 Leicester games, which isn't worth it.
    - (preferably in my book) goto the games, which will cost a little more on tickets plus petrol, but i can barely make any of them because i work most Saturdays and struggle to make it to KO on night matches in time.

I have no interest in Prem league games most weekends, if they made a "championship football" package at a reduced rate, then i would defiantly get it, but at the moment, i can either sit at home doing nothing (im even out of range of radio Leicester), or watch it on one of these websites.

I suspect it would be viable to have a Championship package(or a Championship/League One/League Two package), the rights cost much less and most of games are filmed anyway, you'd think they'd have plenty of content. I assume they're just worried about splitting out part of the content and having more of a job getting people to buy the full package.
