If by "Football" you mean "overpaid players" then you would be 100% correct.

he must have been. 86, 90 and 96 are the best England teams I have seen.

now they will be flooded with even more expensive foreigners.

I'm genuinely not having a dig because I'm not the biggest PL fan.

But as a football fan I will pay a small bit towards this. When I see my Sky bill go up by 2 quid a month next year I will be paying towards this, when I see the price of a pint go up 10p in the pub I will be paying a bit towards this.

If we didn't give these footballers more money would we enjoy it any less? Would the 100k per week they are currently on not still be hugely competitive vs every other league in the world?

    86 - not bad
    88 - lost to Ireland
90 - beat Belgium in injury time and Cameroon on penalties
    92 - played 3, lost 3
    94 - failed to qualify
    96 - semi-final at home

Hardly a better run than the last 12 years.

continuing with my pedantic period ( now into its' 6th week ) - it's actually the love of money that is the root of all evil.

Not one penny of this money will find it's way to grass roots football. It'll all be spent on Baby Bentleys, diamond earings, designer clothes and monstrously gaudy homes in Cheshire and Hertfordshire. meanwhile, clubs up and down the country will continue to go bust and end up desperate for a lifeline.

The Championship is an entertaining, competitive league, and the only downside is that success leads to promotion to the Premiership, where sport is whored out to scum like Murdoch . I wish the so called "top clubs" (excluding Saints) would form a breakaway league and play all their games on the moon, watched live on sky by the entire population of China.

At least we've got years of stories about young girls getting tag-teamed in hotels by overpaid spastics though.

    Cannae beat it. <ok>

    86-96, the glory years?
Yes semis in 90, didn't half struggle to get past Belgium and Cameroon with a 46 year old star player!
