Add to that the foreign tv rights money and the premier league clubs will be rolling in it, can we stay up next season and reap the benefits from the increased revenue....

If we finish in the same position next season approx how much would we make? This is a hypothetical scenario.

I would say at least £60m a season just from the tv rights, and promotion would guarantee about £120m over 4 years if relegated after a season. So it appears that should we stay up we will be even more in the money.

We get £48m over 4 years should we get relegated. And about £44m a season if we stay mid table, there was the exact figures a few weeks ago. So the £90m game stands. But if the deal has increased by 70% it stands to reason that the clubs will get a bulk of that increase.

Or we could just sell our heritage, soul, change our name, strip and hope for an investment in the team likely to be the same as a parachute payment

Parachute payments will not increase. The last deal was struck in May 2010, straight after the end of the season. Any increase in parachute payments will probably occur next year.

Yes the deal was struck, but as this is a new 3 year deal that is likely to increase, so teams relegated in the 2013/14 onwards will likely have an increased sum

The football league will not negotiate mid-season. If no announcement is made in the next month, then forget it.

They will adhere to the new fair play financial structure, stating that any relegated club this year needs to know in advance the financial implications. Sad, but true.....just like they refused to share out the pot of the 2 Championship sides not needed parachute payments to the rest of the championship this year.

The ****ers will sit on their dough and distribute to the needy in the Prem. And as you correctly stated, it doesn't kick in until season 2013/14, so we stay the same this coming season financially.

Bottom line ... staying up next year will be worth approx £110 million to us, if not more!

Premier League greed knows no bounds . A part of this money should be earmarked for the 72 teams not in the Premier , but it won't because of the root of most evil ..... MONEY !!. Makes good men bad & bad men worse !

Swimaway it's not about negotiating mid term, it's about that when that deal ends a new one will be put in place. Whenever that deal ends with parachute payments a new one must be created.

I don't know if we have crossed wires, but the parachute payments for 2012/13 are fixed. The relegated teams this coming season will get £48 mill. The season after it will change.

If we have crossed wires ... sorry. If you think any team relegated next season will see any more than £48 mill, well ......I beg to differ!

Yes that is true, but if there was no incentive to be in the top league there would be no point being there. The premier league has negotiated this with the bidders it's down to the tv companies to cough up. Would like to see more money to the lower leagues but who outside of the uk wants to watch it ?

I think you are mate, the current deal stands at £48m over 4 years, I think it has another 2 years to run. After that a new deal will go into place, but before that the new deal must be negotiated .

The Premier League runs itself , they are the only ones that can bring change . Look at what they are getting on this deal through " Strength in Twenty Teams " . There was a call recently to stop promotion , parachute payments a la' extreme . The premier League should give back a share of TV money , to The Football league ( 72 non premier league teams ) that they stole at the formation of The Premier League .

So will this extra money mean we will see even more already rich top prem clubs players on a min £250,000.00 per WEEK wages !!
It seems to be heading for a super league eventually with a select few top clubs in a league above the prem keeping even more loot and the other lower clubs can all go hang ! And the EFA could`nt care less as long as they get the lions share of it ??
