We are just over a third of the way through the Premier League and the relegation battle is high on the agenda for our neighbours. Will they survive? As it stands (29/11) there are just 4 points between Saints, in the drop zone, and Newcastle in 14th. Reading are 4 points from safety, but have a game in hand. QPR are further adrift, but have Droopy at the helm now. So which thre sides do you think will fall through the trap door into the Championship in May?
My own opinion is that Reading will finish bottom. QPR will get close to safety and just fail. saints will just hang on to 17th and Wigan will fall through the trap door on the last day.
I'd take that all day long. But I am also heartened by the fact that Villa are currently woeful, and Sunderland seem incapable of scoring more than one goal a game.
QPR, Reading and Villa are my bets for the drop. A couple of signings in January and I think we will be just fine, to be honest I find it shocking that we are not rock bottom after the awful start we had.
Scenario 1: 20th: QPR 19: Reading 18:Southampton -------------------- 17th Wigan 16th: Sunderland Scenario 2: Ol' Droopy inspires the players, does his usual wheeling and dealing on transfer deadline day. Signs a few decent players, and moves QPR up to tenth or so. 20th: Reading 19th Southampton: 18th: Sunderland ------------------- In all honesty- I don't think Aston Villa will go down. They're a decent side, with a good manager. They'll scrape through, it won't be "easy on the eye" footie, but they'll scrape victories and stay up. As for people saying Newcastle stand a chance of getting relegated- not a chance! Not only that- people tip Wigan for relegation every year. And they survive every time- and not by luck at all (beating Man U last season with 4/5 games to go was a real turning point for them). They've got a top manager, good players, and they'll finish a respectable 15th. Good luck o the fans of teams in the Premier Legaue relegations dogfight!
