Cheers 6061, always love seeing the stats of players. Mata really is a creative force for Chelsea. Would never have guessed Rooney had 8 assists though, he's been well under the radar so to speak this season, van Persie has outshone him massively. Surprised Lennon only has 7 assists to be honest, I though he'd have a couple more at least, don't suppose you have a "Chances Created" stat by any chance 6061? I'm damn sure Azza would have double the amount he has if the strikers had been more clinical.
Cheers 6061, very informative as usual! How long is Luis Suarez going to stay at Liverpool for? someone's gotta come knocking soon, he's class. We should have got him when we had the opportunity. Imagine how many he'd have scored with the service from out midfielders?! Surprised Bale's assists are so low in the prem. Then again he's scored a fair few goals already, so it's probably down to greed!
Roo is right. Love him or hate him, the fact remains that Suarez is a top striker. To say that he has his faults as a person would be an understatement. But his ability is beyond question, for me.
I think the jury's still out on him. One good season does not make him a good player c.f. David Bentley. He did nothing in his first two years at Liverpool to convince me that we had missed out on him.
LOL. i'm sure deep down HIAG will agree though, even if he won't admit it to the liverpool fans. agreed NSIS. - so, if the club really are that keen on Damiao (you'd think so after trying for 2 years), is the experience of missing out on suarez not enough to make sure we don't make the same mistake twice? I hope so. he hasn't even been there for 2 years yet? bearing in mind players need time to settle, I don't see how 31 goals in 66 games can be questioned. especially when you consider how much running the guy does. he's a passionate team player, even if he goes OTT sometimes.
Whatever, first 1 1/2 seasons, in which he scored 15 goals, hardly breathtaking. I think this "time to settle" thing is much overplayed, and is just making excuses for poor performances. Look at Ronaldo, Aguero, Ibrahimovic, Van Nistelrooy, Drogba etc - truly great players tend to hit the ground running when changing leagues.
Fair enough, perhaps the term is overused, like you say. But 15 goals is still pretty good, even if you do take out the new club/settling in/different country/different league elements.
You may be right, but I don't think so. I think Suarez will score goals wherever he goes. He looks a natural.
Suarez must have been banned for about 3 months of the season, 8 games was it in one go?, plus others, so that 15goals would have been more. If you take all the ****e surrounding him away and just leave the footballer he's a top player, and has scored at all levels. Would I have the footballer in a Spurs team, yes, he would be one striker that would thrive on how we play. 20 years ago another bad boy, different reasons but still a mare, got signed by SAF...Cantona, a lot thought fergie was mad, but the rest is history on that one.
Looking at that list, it seems Michu, Cazorla, Hazard, Kone, Podolski, Benteke and Mata (2nd season) have had little difficulty settling in the PL.
I wish we'd play Gylfi and Tom Carroll more. I think Gylfi would score regularly if he played regularly, and Carroll's been very good the few chances he's had. I'm still not a big Podolski fan. His goals and assists are pretty good but not great, and he doesn't track back. On the other hand, I've become a big Lambert fan. He had two tremendous efforts against Everton yesterday: a perfect header and a free kick that looked like it was going to hit the inside of the post about an inch below the bar.
