On the LU official site Warnock says ""This week you'll see what I intend with the retained list on Wednesday". Any predictions for who will be shown the door? Interesting that he says that you need to be able to predict what 9 or 10 of the players will do, but it's a toss of a coin with a lot of them. Think we've discussed ad nauseum the fact that you can't tell which Leeds team will turn up!
I'd add Sam and Rogers to the list. Shame about Rogers' injuries, but I can't see the point in paying him wages if he's going to be injured all the time...
Brown has shown he is fitter than every other player at the club. Needs proper players around him in a team that works for him. If we are not gong to play in a manner that works with him in the team, then either ship him out, or save him for the nasty winter months when football is hard to do
Don't see why we would get rid of Brown, he's been awesome this season. Struggled a bit at the start because he hadn't played in ages (due to his contract situation at Pompey) but that's understandable.
Any player can get concussion, it's not a sign of being easily injured, and he's recovered remarkably well from his ankle injury. Didn't have any history of being a crock in the MLS, which by all accounts is also a fairly physical league. Sam can go, he's not good enough to play regularly for us and too good to rot in our reserves.
Maik Taylor will be gone and I've have a horrible feeling Somma might be shown the door but my big hope if for Paynter to leave
My mistake, I assumed he'd picked up an injury in between the Doncaster and Reading game (or whatever game it was he came back into the side) which was why he hadn't been picked. Can't seem to find anything about it though, so obviously didn't happen From what I've heard/seen, he looks energetic, guess Warnock will have a look at him in pre-season
Taylors gone http://www.newsatden.co.uk/2702-exclusive-leeds-keeper-set-to-join-millwall-permanently.html? the lure of playing for an-ambitious club got the better of him
Because he is a liability Taylor - I didn't realise he was ours, I thought we had him on loan until the end of the season, I don't think we signed him on a deal so he was free to go?
Brown on high wages, can't contribute over a full season. Looked better towards end of season because he had a good rest. Takes far too long to recover from knocks and niggles, rather get in two younger players for the future. Brown will be a dissapointment next season just as he was for two thirds of last season. He finally pulled his finger out when Colin came in because he knew he was playing for a new contract that Grayson was never going to consider giving him. A total waster who robbed us of his services for most of the season, I don't buy this sudden spurt of energy. Where was he when we needed him most? Hamstring strain, sore ankle, etc etc. **** off!!
He probably is on wages that won't really represent a bit part role next season, but I'm sure Warnock and Brown himself would consider the re-negotiation of a contract if it came to it. At least he actually works for his wages! Naturally it will take him a bit longer in between games to recover, he's a lot older than the rest of the squad, but his experience could be vital next season, especially when it comes to bringing through the younger players like Thompson, and seeing games out etc. No problem with him staying whatsoever
Sorry, got to take you to task here. Yes, he had a dodgy spell to start with, but it didn't last that long. And he was playing very well BEFORE Colin arrived, with much more consistency than ANY of our midfielders (including Snoddy!). As for recovery, I did not expect him to play 2 games a week, but he did - often. Was he flagging at the end of games? No - he was gambolling around like a spring lamb with a machete. He was an excellent signing, and has earned another year's contract. Where are you getting his wages info from? Is this supposition, or hard fact?
He is on five figures, he will not get better...bottom line. I really don't see the point in keeping him when better players can be had and Colin will know this. I can only see Brown staying if he agrees to a massive wage cut, which he would probably do as no one else will sign him. My point is on his high wages he is not worth retaining. Let's see what Colin does, he wasn't happy with Brown's red card and if he is consistent Brown will go just as O'Dea did after his sending off was used as a reason for not being retained.
