    brb prediction league

(Incorporating pre match thread, score line predictions, league, group)

Thank you to AllHell & Bristol407 for their contribution to these rules.

Welcome to the third season of the brb prediction league for 2011/12, as with any competition, these are the rules...

Membership to this league is now full, except at authors (brb) discretion.

The prediction league is free, however, you can only enter if you have been sent and accepted an invite on not606 to the brb prediction thread group, unless decided otherwise at brb's discretion.

Members, will need to predict the outcome of each game via the weekly, brb 'Pre Match' threads.

Any non members can join in just for fun, in the 'Pre Match' threads.

If you predict the correct score line for a game you will receive the following points, dependent on the total number of goals tallied by both sides in a particular game:

0 to 3 goals in game gets 6 points for a correct score line prediction

4 to 7 goals in game gets 9 points for a correct score line prediction

8 + goals in game gets 12 points for a correct score line prediction

Basically predict high, score more points if your prediction is right.

However, with the exception of 0-0 you will be deducted 2 points if your score line is correct but you DID NOT LIST any prediction for goal scorer(s).

    Then you can receive:

1 point for every correct goal scorer prediction.

Predicted from either team (only if you get the score line right in the first instance). Note: own goals will only count if you have indicated (NAMED) the own goal scorer(s).

You don't have to predict every goal scorer, although the odds are in your favour if you do, however, you DO have to predict at least ONE goal scorer (except in 0-0 of course!) even if you predict the away team to win.

In the matches that no correct score line predictions have been correctly forecast...

3 points will be awarded to every poster that has predicted the correct outcome of the game via their score line prediction.

This means you will have either forecast a Win/Lose/Draw for the Gills. There will be NO additional points in this scenario for correct goal scorer(s). Last season there would have been a total of about 15 games where this rule would have applied.

Please DO NOT edit your posts: in the event of a mistake please repost, any attempt to manipulate any part of the rules for gain, will result in a 10 point deduction and any points earned as a result of that gain will be void. Edited posts will not be validated in the event of a dispute.

Bonus threads might be introduced during the season via the FA Cup, giving members the chance to earn additional points. The prediction league is solely used for League matches and the FA Cup and no other competition.

Normally been quite a deciding rule, in the past this one...
The most recently correctly predicted game have always take precedent in a tied position, against previous games. However, this season my new spreadsheet does not apply this formula, therefore in the event on the final day of the season, the top place might be decided by this factor, as it has been possible in the previous two seasons, it WILL be manually applied.

Anyone within 12 points of the prediction league leader (including the leader) for MATCHES - 44, 45, 46 - can submit their prediction to me by private message (known as PM) - the prediction will not be displayed on the board but it will be indicated I have received their prediction by private message.

Can you please ensure your predictions are posted in the following layout, for easy entry on to my spreadsheet...

Gillingham 4-0 Morecambe (Kedwell (2), Whelpdale, Rooney)

All in one straight line, separated from any other text, I will then copy this one line straight on to my spreadsheet.

In the event of two goal scorer(s) having the same surname, please clearly indicate which goal scorer you have selected i.e. J Payne or S Payne - failure do so could result in your goal scorer being void.

    Rule amendment 1:
To make the transfers to my spreadsheet easier and to reiterate the above ^^^, anyone that fails to post their prediction in the correct layout, will be subject to a 2 point deduction from any points gained from that prediction, applying the same rule as though you failed to predict goalscorer(s), the correct layout is as follows:

    Gillingham 0 - 1 Millwall (Marquis)

Team/result/goal scorer(s) must all be on one line, although team names maybe abbreviated i.e.
Gills 0 Wall 1 (Marquis) etc.

    AN INCORRECT LAYOUT:
    Gillingham 0 - Millwall 1
    (Marquis)

    Rule amendment 2:
All predictions must be made before the scheduled kick off time or maybe deemed invalid.

Additional rules may be implemented on the final day of the season, in any possible tie break situation.

I will post the prediction league table at my earliest available opportunity, then the next pre match thread when applicable.

Postponed games - thread will be deemed as void, NO additional points to be earned as in previous seasons.

Some games, might not be covered by a pre match thread during the whole season, I will normally try and announce these situations in advance.

The prediction league will not include any league play off matches and will finish at MATCH 46.

The most important rule...the authors decision is final and the rules are always subject to change.
