Van Persie will get a huge, huge amount of abuse from Arsenal fans. He will then score against us, but will not celebrate because of the respect he has for Arsenal football club and Arsene Wenger. The people abusing him will then look like the petty people they are. Calling it.
RVP may not even play at all. It would be a wise move from Fergie. Sure they do not want to spoil the atmosphere and they do not want Arsenal fans to remind everyone who has won the title for ManU.
when he who shall not be named returned to the lane with you lot for the first time it really got the crowd going and the team played above themselves and it ended up as a draw...we were **** at the time and you lot were on the way to being league champions. The same will probably happen on sunday...you lot aint **** (we were a mid table club at best) so have a chance of winning on sunday...i thimk it'll be a draw at worst for you if RVP plays...I can see united taking the wind out of your fans sails by not playing him...that'll make for a weird atmosphere that won't be as beneficial for you.
To be honest respecting the Club and Manager is different issue to respecting the fans. He will have good relations with Wenger and the squad doesn't mean he has the same relationship with fans. That being said the whole not celebrating thing against your old club is the poetic equivalent of kissing the badge of your current club. Expected of you and all together meaningless.
I've been looking forward to this game just to abuse RVP. I've delayed my travel plans as well just to be able to be at this game. Whether he plays or not, we will be singing abuse at him.
I decided a few years back that I was taking football too seriously and decided I should treat it like a pantomime for men. Makes it far more fun and at times like this booing the pantomime villain RVP would make me laugh if I was lucky enough to be going. Tbh I don't blame him for wanting to go to a club where he would have more chance of winning trophies before hes too old and hes done it in his first season. I just wish he hadn't had to.
Fair play to you sir, I am quite look forward to this, not often you get to watch games with no pressure at all. Be rather nerve racking for you lot though!
Actually yeah it was a last minute howler from your keeper... so hopefully the rest of my contribution will be equally wrong and you'll get done by united on sunday
Unlikely the manager will be desperate to win because that's the way he is. Though I would admit having already won the title must have a bit of subconscious effect.
