Well at the moment we officially have three players....Carey, Jervis & Sawyer....but pre-season planning is taking shape. Arranged friendlies are..... 1.....Torquay away on Saturday 16th July at 3pm. 2.....Truro City away on Tuesday 19 July at 7-30pm. 3.....Weymouth away on Saturday 23rd July time to be confirmed. 4.....Training Camp in Holland 24th to 29th July including match against MVV Maastricht Tuesday 26 July at 7pm local time. 5.....WBA home on Saturday 30th July 5-30pm. Low key matches starting with three none league teams...plus Dutch opposition then one game at home against better opposition. Last year we played most of our pre-season games against lesser opposition and started the season very well.....but we will need more than three players by then.
There must be other players other than the three who have at the moment signed up who will accept their contract offer. It makes Derek Adams job harder to decide who he needs to bring in to strengthen his squad when his present squad consists of only three players.
All of the players offered new contracts have 30 days to accept (i.e. to the start of July). I expect it's unlikely any of them will rush into things - why should they?
Derek Adams cannot wait until the start of July.....to chose his targets can he ? Players who expect to stay should be more considerate and helpful...so that Adams can chose the areas of his squad that he will need to strengthen.....at the moment it's a stab in the dark for Adams. Luke McCormick surely isn't going anywhere with his unfortunate past.....he must be glad that he has been accepted back at PAFC so well......why not be thankful by saying yes and removing any goalkeeper problems for Adams who must be busy getting in his targets.
Very quiet at Home Park so it seems.....players on hols.... their contracts expire at the end of the month so action will be starting then....have their agents got any offers for their services other than Argyle of course. Seems Derek Adams has got away for a few days....but I'm sure he is probably keeping in touch with what is happening....and has some players lined up for when he returns.
There is a possibility that Argyle will lose 50% of its successful defence this summer.....Nelson might end up in Scotland with Rangers and Hartley might be tempted back to the north east by Grimsby who he has held talks with.
Four more games added to pre-season. 1.....St Blazey away Sat 9th of July at 3pm. 2.....Tavistock away Tues 12th of July at 7-30pm. 3.....Bovey Tracey away Wed 13th of July at 7-30pm.....Reserves. 4.....Elburton Villa away Wed 20 of July at 7-30pm.....Reserves. PS.......interesting that Rod Stewart plays at Home Park on Tuesday night and Knighted by the weekend ?
