Forgive me if this appears a bit of a wind up, it honestly is not intended that way, however I notice that Man U are going on pre-season tours to both South Africa AND China. With environmental concerns being a growing issue, Rio+20, the ever more apparent affects of climate change and dwindling natural resources particularly oil, it seems frankly irresponsible that a football club goes two countries on the opposite side of the world which is really unnecessary. Sure go to one or the other, but both just seems ridiculous. It's not even like you're going to Tanzania then Zanzibar or Mozambique then Madagascar as at least they're fairly close but South Africa and China are thousands of miles apart, so as I say it seems a bit irresponsible and unethical as well. Anyone else agree with me?

I don't believe climate change has any effect on the planet's environment. The planet is going to be fine with a bit of CO2 in the atmosphere, it's been here 5 billion years, it's the people on the planet that are ****ed. And whilst those associated with the two pre season tours will be making an unbelievable amount of money and wont feel any of the effects of climate change, I honestly dont think they give a ****.

    What a crock of ****!

What about movie stars travelling the world promoting films?? what about Bob ****ing Geldoff flying all around the world with his 40 mill profit from the poor, what about richard branson planning flights into ****ing space. what a ********

So what do you think about the Olympics?? Thousands of athletes all travelling here, should we not do that either? War?? Is flying bombers, jets and transporters all over the world for the last 60 years more acceptable than manchester united having a pre season tour??

I think the way your club has managed its finances is a little bit irresponsible <ok>

Olympics is good, plus athletes will be travelling to one destination (the UK) and many of them will be coming from a relatively short distance. Plus it's once every four years.

No, I'm against war and military involvement in general except for when protecting human rights.

Well yeah that's pretty pointless as well, they could just do video interviews with the presenters of BBC breakfast from wherever they live. And one thing that annoys me is all these politicians meeting for conferences where half the time nothing gets done but I mean seriously, haven't you guys ever heard of Skype?!

Geldoff's a bit of a hypocrite to be fair.

Actually that one I'm in favour of. Finding ways of making space flight more feasible is generally a good thing as ultimately it may be necessary for humanity's survival to one day maybe colonise the solar system and perhaps beyond.

Anyway, I'm not against pre-season tours or air shows or travelling by plane or anything and I know Man U's tour isn't going to suddenly cause the ice caps to instantly melt, just I think you should, you know, take it in moderation. That's reasonable isn't it? I just think the tour is a little excessive. Even if you don't believe in anthropologically induced climate change (though I don't deny that there are natural changes in climate as well), there's still the issue of dwindling natural resources so that in itself should be reason enough to want to be environmentally conservative.

I agree, our successive boards have been at best incompetent, at worst corrupt.

Saved us? It was only a preseason friendly, it's more about gaining fitness and match sharpness, and to be fair Bebe wasted half a dozen good attacks before that goal with his head down style of play and poor ball control, Chicharito also wasted a fair amount of good chances before that, Kagawa looked good though, very good movement and linkup play, Valencia and Vermijl also linked up very well down the right.

    Colonise the solar system LOL

Do you know how long it would take at a feasible speed for human travel to reach even close to the edge of our solar system ?

Do you honestly think that technology will advance that far before nuclear war? Crazy

I'm not talking about going beyond the solar system in the short term. If I recall correctly, travelling to Mars using current technology would take about 5 years, so it's feasible(-ish) but more research needs to be done to counter the negative physiological impacts of being under sustained zero g for that length of time. Of course, there's the possibility of artificial gravity but then we're into the realms of Star Trek and Star Wars....

As for nuclear war, people say that but the only country I genuinely think would launch a nuclear attack is North Korea, but even that isn't likely as they wouldn't have support from China or anyone else and I doubt they'd have the nuclear capability to knock out NATO by itself. Hopefully they wouldn't be that stupid.

Look what you've done now, this is a football forum. Maybe you feel the club is being irresponsible for going on two tours but it can only help to promote the brand and give the players more of a chance to jel.

Want to moan about the environment feel free to go do it on a green peace forum <ok>

On another note i hope your club somehow manages to survive, i've actually been to Fratton Park horrible stadium but was a real good atmosphere <ok>

Ah, but you forget that by flying our team to China we can hope to discourage some of the 70,000 Chinese fans who fly to OT every week to watch games (I'm looking at you King Eric).

You should be thanking us you tree hugging hippie <ok>

The only thing that is bothering me about our pre season tour is that Bebe is on it.
