A good result for Town in front of a decent July crowd. Glad that Collins and JLAA both got on the score sheet.
A decent afternoon's entertainment. I thought Ryan Woods was class throughout. Of the new boys Sadler looked very assured and McKnight also impressed in a brief cameo with his quick feet and accurate passing. MM certainly will have a few selection headaches if all these players are still with us in a few weeks.
Quite a good game against Wolves with a draw being a fair result. Barnett looks sharper than last season and is probably ahead of Collins as the starting target man. Tootle, Mcalinden and Brown were given plenty of game time and MM seems to have them in mind as starters. I think Tootle is a decent player still coming back to fitness after a long lay-off. Brown and Mcalinden give us more movement across the line though neither have fully convinced yet. Martyn Woods looks steady in midfield and has good distribution but Ryan Woods was outstanding in his all too brief cameo. I cannot remember a midfield player for us since Tony Kelly who has such an appreciation of space and such passing ability - a great pity his thumping long range shot hit the bar and did not go in. I know there has ben a lot of discussion about Ryan on B and A but I for one just intend to enjoy watching him play while he is still with us as I think he is destined for bigger things. I am not convinced by the back four - we gave away another rather soft goal again and should go back to a back five (Ellis or even Demetriou could come in as the other centre-back until NKP is fit). Wolves moved the ball at pace and that helped to sharpen our lads up but we were never outclassed so that augurs well for the new season.
A goodwrite up. I was travelling to Wells so couldn't make it. Glad Woods had a good game. Tootle hasn't played a lot recently so isn't that sharp football wise.
Thanks Matster. I don't normally bother with friendlies but thought I would see this one as I will miss the first week of the new season though I will be following events closely from my hotel room in Oslo.
