If the kick off is at 1pm in Faversham, then following 90 minutes football add into that any incremental time. I hope they've got a jet to land them on the turf at Ashford - lol
Someones put on another forum, that knowing MA, he'll sub half the team at Faversham, then bring them on for the second half at Ashford.
I think the likelihood is that he will take a handful of first teamers to Faversham and add in the development boys and probably John Schofield or Darren Hare will take another handful and more young boys to Ashford.
Don't do many away games but did go to Ashford last time we played there - it's a nice little ground would reccomend it for an afternoon out (parking a bit "random") Roy
Can't normally be bothered with the friendlies. Although if I don't go away, might have taken a look down at Faversham but if there going to mess about don't know if I can be asked. Palace and Ipswich are scrubbed off my list automatically being midweek games. Only one I might take a look at is Millwall, dependent if the price is right and if I can get a few beers in beforehand. However, they've even tried to spoil that with a 12.30 kick off, so will depend if I can drag myself out of bed early to enjoy the full match experience, otherwise I'll be saving my pennies for the away league games.
just seen that season ticket holders can see Millwall, Ipswich and Palace for £30 that's £10 each instead of £15 each Looks like Scally is trying to please season ticket holders. Shame you have to go to all 3 though rather it was £10 per game.
gioblues - don't be so naive. Scally knows exactly what he's doing - there wont be too many people that can/will go to more than two of those games - which makes each one £15 . This season ticket holder is not too pleased at this 'deal.'
Well I'm going to have to pay £15 anyway. Taking some of my non-Gills mates to the match vs Palace, perhaps try and convert #LiveInHope
Two further fixtures have been added to the Pre-season friendlies taking the total up to 10 pre-season games. We will be playing Chatham Town on the 6th July away and also Essex side AFC Sudbury on the 25th of July. The club has announced that the schedule is now completed. Here are your finalised Pre-Season friendlies: June 29th: Faversham Town 1pm (A) June 29th: Ashford United 3pm (A) July 6th: Chatham Town 1pm (A) July 6th: Bromley 3pm (A) July 16th: Ipswich Town 7.30pm (H) July 20th: Millwall 12.30pm (H) July 23rd: Crystal Palace 7.30pm (H) July 25th: AFC Sudbury 7.45pm (A) July 27th: Woking 3pm (A) July 30th: Maidenhead United 7.30 pm (A)
I went to the club today and got my tickets for all 3 games but got the impression that had I only wanted 1 game it would still have been £10.
I'm not so sure all these friendlys is a good idea. I remember Hess did the same a couple of years ago,and there potential for injuries ,apart from tackles,on poor pitches. I expect the manager will say he's looking at shape from the team, but seeing as these games are always a mixture of triallists, first team and development players, I'm not sure what the team get out of it, that they don't get on the training ground
Agree. I thought last season we were supposed to be cutting down on the amount of friendlies. Maybe I'm wrong. If I'm not, why has the situation changed?
It's not even that we get a lot of money out of it. Only the 3 at home are likely to generate a bit of income, and that won't be much.
I would have liked us to play Maidstone at their place, extremely easy to get to for me. I would rather us play Kent teams though if we want to play non-league sides and the more higher opposition in non-league. Teams like Dartford, Welling and Tonbridge Angels would be better tests than random places like AFC Sudbury.
Chatham Town game called off due to the state of the Maidstone Road pitch: http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/chats-friendly-off-jun-27-882186.aspx Back down to 9 pre-season friendlies: June 29th: Faversham Town 1pm (A) June 29th: Ashford United 3pm (A) July 6th: Bromley 3pm (A) July 16th: Ipswich Town 7.30pm (H) July 20th: Millwall 12.30pm (H) July 23rd: Crystal Palace 7.30pm (H) July 25th: AFC Sudbury 7.45pm (A) July 27th: Woking 3pm (A) July 30th: Maidenhead United 7.30 pm (A)
