Pre-season dates

Anyone have any idea of when pre-season friendlies will start? I ask because I'm going away for the weeks beginning 14th July and 21st July and just wondering how this will fit in. My aim is to still do the Ferriby and Winterton friendlies at least.

The World Cup final is on 13th July and isn't there usually a break of a couple of weeks at least before teams start playing friendlies? But then that'd make it very late this year wouldn't it? I'm sure friendlies are normally around this time but aren't World Cups usually a couple of weeks earlier? I.e. finishing around 1st July. I can't work out how a whole world cup, time off for the players involved and then pre-season are all going to fit into the summer.

I know our friendlies obviously aren't confirmed but most clubs start pre-season training around the same time and then start playing friendlies at a similar time as well. The 'football calendar' makes it generally quite easy to work out when pre-season will take place but it doesn't seem so obvious this year to me.

 

If we don't win the Cup then our Europa League campaign will start in July. Will there still be the Ferriby & Winterton friendlies if this is the case? Maybe just send a 2nd team.

 

Yeah it's a right pain. I picked those dates thinking that surely straight after the World Cup there won't be any football but the other stuff going on makes me doubt it. I think if we're in the early stages of the EL we'll need to use those games instead of some of our later friendlies, but we'll still want some match practice before that so god knows how it's going to work.

 

I'm away from the 30th July to the 13th August. worked out when the league season starts, forget the rest. But if we are in the Europa i hope we play a Portugese team while I'm out there.

 

The Ferriby and Winterton games could well be announced in the enxt 2 weeks once we know at what stage our europa league entry date will be.
