    Adams Park 19:45

This Tuesday evening’s Football League Cup first round clash at Adams Park is the first of an early August double header against bitter rivals the Chairboys of Wycombe.

Our cup record vs. Wycombe Wanderers:

    P 05 W 01 D 00 L 05 F 04 A 09 -5

    AMC 05/10/10 Colchester 0 - 2 Wycombe Kevin Betsy 75, Scott Davies 82 2379 Colchester 0 - 2 Wycombe

    AMC 09/12/03 Wycombe 2 - 3 Colchester AET Scott McGleish 8, 32, Andy Thompson 22, Roger Johnson 69, Jermaine Brown 120 1873 Wycombe 2 - 3 Colchester

    FAC 16/11/96 Colchester 1 - 2 Wycombe Juan De Suza 43, John Williams 62, Richard Wilkins 69 4378

    AMC 11/01/94 Colchester 0 - 1 Wycombe Steve Guppy 86 2751

    FAC 16/11/85 Wycombe 2 - 0 Colchester Mark West 3, Simon Read 40 3089

    Background

It is fair to say that unfortunately Wycombe have had the better of our various cup encounters over the years, with the U’s solitary win only coming after very late extra-time winner.

Both Colchester and Wycombe faced relegated Championship teams on the opening day of the season: the U’s beat Preston 4-2 at Deepdale while Wycombe held S****hrope to a 1-1 draw at Adams Park.

    Team News

Injuries - Jordan Sanderson (Broken Foot)
Doubts - Ben Williams (Virus) and Andy Bond (Head)
Debuts - Tom Eastman and Karl Duguid

Please share your predictions, observations, thoughts and line-ups.

    Cheers for the thread Mike.

So much depends on what teams the managers put out which, to some extent, will indicate just how interested they are in this cup this year. Hopefully we'll have some of our youngsters on show to see if they are up to it.

I think points will be more important to us this year in an attempt to steer well clear of the relegation zone come the latter part of the season, so avoiding injuries will be the highest priority.

If I have to make a prediction I will go for Wycombe 1 Colchester 4.

Ron, Ron, da do da Ron, think your being a bit generous there, like Wycombe, i would'nt expect to see our same 11 start tomorrow, probably include the likes of Baldwin,Duguid and a couple of youth teamers. Bragging rights are the only thing at stake, Saturdays the meaningfull game, bring it on.

We have suffered some big losses in cup games (although I think mainly in the Paint Drying Cup) so it wouldn't surprise me. As you say, Saturday is the real one and I'll settle for a point there.

Beefy, are you making a statement; "Ian Henderson is still the greatest player of all time"
or asking a question; " Is Ian Henderso still the greatest player of all time"

It's just that this ; "Just go confirm IANNNNNNNN HENNDERSOOONNNNNNNN is still the greatest player of all time?, makes no sense at all.

Nice to hear from you again, enjoy life back in the prem.

Bul; McCoy, Johnson, Winfield, Sandell; Harris, Harding, (Halls/Bloomers/Lewis??), Grant; Beavon, McClure

That's my guess, although wouldn't be surprised to see Stewart start at CB instead of big Dave.

Does the 15yo qualify to come on as a substitute, or is he too young to be on a contract?

Interesting thread. Didnt realise we had such a good record against Colu. Should be a good game tonight, hopefully open, attacking football. But you are all right of course, the proper game is on Saturday :)

Noticed you live in Murcia monarch, I lived on the outskirts of Murcia in a place called El Palmar for a year. Have you heard of it? I used to go to a private english speaking school there.

Wycombe win 5-4 on penalties. Saturday will be another interesting encounter no doubt. Wycome started off with a lot of chances on goal but then Colchester seemed to have a majoritiy of the shots until the closing stages, it will be interesting on Saturday when Colchester are at home.
