Given the negativity on the board about some of our fans recently, I thought I'd point out that some fellow Spurs fans have performed brilliantly over the weekend. Pamela Relph and Richard Whitehead both won gold at the Paralympics, in the rowing and 200m, respectively. Congratulations to both of them. I was going to post the Whitehead race on the Bill Nich thread anyway, but hearing that he's a Spurs fan has made it more relevant. For anyone that missed it, here it is: Unbelievable stuff.
Just to add to this, 4 medal winning Spurs supporters were given a great welcome when they came onto the pitch at hlf time yesterday. The 4 were silver medallists Richard Hounslow and Andrew Simpson and bronze medal winners Chloe Rogers and Helen Richardson. Chloe and Helen were part of the womens hockey team. Richard was in the mens canoe slalom, and Andrew was part of the Mens Sailing team. Congratulations to all 4 of them . On another positive note coming out of yesterday, there was an excellent tribute made to Chris Hughton broadcast on the giant screens before the match started. It included a montage of his career as a player for our club and paid tribute to his 28 years of service as a player, coach and assitant manager. There was an interview with Chris and it was clear the club has a special place in his heart.
You would know more about it than I do OS, but he strikes me as a thoughtful, intelligent guy. Maybe our manager one day?
Chris Hughton = top guy. Spurs legend. Best fullback I've ever seen. Extremely dignified whilst managing the Toon whilst being simultaneously stabbed in the back. NB congratulations to Richard Whitehead. That race was amazing. Not sure I've ever seen someone burst through like that... does he do 400m as well?
