Tatey has openly criticised his team mates for Saturday's woeful performance. Bit rich when he talks about players "failing to track" runners, don't you think? It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic. http://bbc.in/Smx82Q
Who did he give that quote to and when - asking for trouble in the locker room that. We started the match with 7 new faces for all practical purposes ... New players: Michu, deG, Pablo, Ki and Ben. Infrequently used last season: Routledge, Tate. We were hardly going to look like a coherent team now were we. Last season the same 11 started a good chunk of our games - that's cohesion building. What is not acceptable at any level is standing around watching like a ****ing ornament while the opposition is trying to stick the ball in the back of the net. Time to walk past a few mirrors.
I think the world of Tate, 100% Jack but yesterday showed he's not up to it in the Premier League. I thought Ki did a better job at centre half when he went back there than Tate. We need new blood ASAP
I'm sorry, just not Premier League, like him on a personal level, but I've seen milk turn quicker and he doesn't instill confidence .
I thought the best thing about yesterday was Ben Davies. He looked comfortable. Thought routledge looked weak and Hernandez didn't really appear much. I expected him to be blasting down the wing a lot. Tate was pants but what the game showed was how much hard work defensively Dyer and Britton put in. Britton had the flu but Dyer did not deserve to be dropped.
Hate to say it, but Tatey's not up to the job. Watching him against Man city last season proved that. He's a Swansea legend, for sure, same as Trundles on our wall of fame, but we have moved on. Like Monk, HJ might for once be sentimental about these players. Either loan them out, or have a quiet word and tell them to help out in our new academy, because they are truley 'Jack Bastards'!!!!
Tate has a right to have these thoughts but telling the world is not helping the team spirit. I am sorry but ML or perhaps AC need to have a word with him. Unfortunate he looked out of his depth on Saturday, but then again so did a few of the players.
Amazed that Tate hasnt been truly lambasted He was an embarrassment of the highest order Tateists - hang your head in shame, please
I don't think this is right at all - we had lots of good talent out there. Britton was recovering from 'flu and wasn't himself even when he came on (unusually giving the ball away frequently), though dropping Dyer was curious. Having said that Laudrup intimated before the game that whichever winger was on the bench was likely to get on for the second half. So saying "the game was lost before it started" isn't right. Bottom line for me is that Everton were very very good and coupled with that we had a bad day at the office. But Tate of all people should keep his head down. Maybe he would have done so if he'd watched the goals back again on video.
If you read the quotes in the Post article http://www.thisissouthwales.co.uk/w...-s-Alan-Tate/story-16973334-detail/story.html, what Tate is basically saying is that the midfield didn't bust enough of a hump to make up for the deficiencies of the back four and get back quickly enough to defend.
Yes, notice that the Post has omitted the quote: "You need to do the dirty jobs off the ball that go unnoticed - tracking midfield runners, tracking full-backs and being physical." Whatever the case, Tate should shut his yap and stop criticising the team of not doing something when he was the biggest culprit. We as fans an have a pop, as can the Manager. It's not his place to do so publicly.
Can understand Leon being on the bench if not fully fit (shows what an influence he is in the team). I wonder if Dyer's attitude which got him his 1st yellow was anything to do with his frustration at not starting. Although I dont think we would have got anything if he had stayed on. We gave away far too many free kicks on Sat in dangerous places and our indiscipline compared to last season will cost us dearly if we keep it up.
I've always defended Tate, he bleeds pure Jack but this time I cant. After a performance like his on Saturday he not only needs to shut up but also he needs to look in a mirror and ask himself "Which Championship club should I go on loan to" Sorry Tatey I've loved you forever, as a Jack chaps, but you were so poor Saturday that you adversely affected the entire back line. You managed to make a good defender, Ashley Williams, look like he was incapable. Williams poor recent form, I suggest, isn't his fault. On Saturday he simply didn't know where to position himself as he was trying to help and support a young Davies as well as having to constantly look to see where Tate was in defense and cover for him when he wasn't where he should have been. Williams was effectively our only first line defender with Rangel and Ben on constant attack duty. Williams therefor had to cover the whole back line on his own, an impossible task. I know we were very poor Saturday but I think we should appreciate Everton a little more. In my mind, a top 6 team and a contender for a Champions League slot, they were superb.
tate is not stupid he knows he is not the best but he tries his best, I never saw many giving him credit when he was made MOM by a number of papers in the match before everton. there are to many jumping on the Tate blame wagon as he is an easy target and thats not fair on him, Most of the team were poor namely ash and many others and i also blame laudrup in his tactics and team selection. If leon was ill then why include him on the bench, he should have started as he is the main man in midfield. dyer would not have been sent off if he had started...Im all for introducing new players into the side but not all together and not after we lost the previous game.....So lay off Tate he was not the only one to take the blame....
Was hoping to see if that Situ could get a call up with Chico out, although after his performance against Aston Villa he looked half solid so deserved another game but on Saturday he was a bloody donkey!! Thank god for the League Cup!!!
Re Situ - You would think a guy who used to captain the France youth ranks could cut it. Or have we stalled his progression as we haven't got the training facilities that he used to have? Very strange one that.
