http://www.totaljobs.com/JobSearch/JobDetails.aspx?JobId=59465041 Probably a non-story but I thought this was probably us with Ash Lord leaving his role
I'm not sure about pay in the PR in industry, but isn't that a piss poor salary? Especially considering they're asking for prior experience. That's the sort of pay you'd be looking to get straight of uni, not with years of experience, surely?
The part that tickles me is the word 'Permanent' ... err yes sure! Until you upset...(fill in this space yourselves) that is!
The salary range is an insult to anyone with that level of experience, who is expected to operate in the PL circus, who, to make it even more challenging, has to manage a situation, internally, best suited to someone called Kissenger. The press are going to love this one; unbelievable.
Yep, exactly. And its definitely us, nobody else in the CHAMPIONSHIP would pay that for a role that is regularly a 70 hour week. As I've said before, other clubs in the EPL pay 6 figures for their top PR person, which lets not forget is what we're looking for here. It's not a junior role. You really do get what you're pay for and as a result we'll end up with someone local (nobody would relocate for that) with minimal experience or promote from within someone with ZERO experience, as we did with Ash. It begs a very serious question - why are we happy to pay good wages for playing staff, which saw us double the wages of an experienced Premier League striker this season, but non playing staff get peanuts?
It can't be us, the communications department is described as vibrant.Agree with other posters the salary offered is not competitive and will not attract anyone with the experience which we need.
We've just advertised for a trainee at work and they have ****ed up with the advert. The starting salary went out as 321,700 instead of £21,700. Needless to say we've had a lot of applicants.
I know someone who's ideal for this role and I assume he'd accept the remuneration offered, as it's about what he's on at the moment. His name is Ash...
There is a big difference between a Press Officer and Communications Manager. This reads like a bit of an admin role to me. It's not a great wage, but it doesn't say you need Premier League experience. You should apply TWF, you would be hilarious in a role putting out press releases winding up the fans.
Are you suggesting he was happy in the role? So why is he moving jobs then - is it not his choice? Im not being funny - I dont know the answer. I'm out of the loop these days. You're right, there is. The problem is there is nobody above this role in terms of PR / Media. Unless we're appointing one, then this role would be about right, however I really dont suspect we are appointing a more senior person on 50k+ to work above this role. As I said on the previous thread when we discussed Ash leaving, the job title is a joke and it appears to me as an excuse to pay a low wage when the person in the role is in charge of the whole media output.
In any business comparable with a premier league football team there would be a team of experienced people, not a single ****ing graduate trying to do everything themselves. The club is clueless
