Bristol Rovers have today taken an important step towards improving its PR and communications by appointing Doug Shields to advise the Board. The club acknowledged in the summer we were lacking someone with expertise in this particular field, and the issue formed part of the internal review carried out by the directors. We have also taken on board the comments and opinions of supporters on this subject, and we hope Doug’s arrival will show our intent to improve the way we communicate. Doug is someone the board has known for some time and who has close to 20 years experience in the worlds of media and PR. He is a co-founder and director of London-based GingerComms and is a Rovers supporter, so has the best interests of the club and its fans at heart. Doug will be working very closely with the board, and staff across the club, acting an as advisor and a sounding board to help us improve the way we deliver information to ensure you all feel included and involved in club matters. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your incredible support throughout this season, both on and off the pitch. Thanks to the huge numbers of supporters turning up at games, home and away, Darrell and the players are doing us proud and we still remain on course to achieve our goal of achieving League Two football at the first time of asking. Off the pitch, the support we have had from you all over the issues with Sainsbury’s regarding the new stadium, has kept us all going. Obviously during negotiations and legal discussion regarding the stadium it was extremely difficult for us to tell you exactly what was going on. CJS you seem to be in the know, at the beginning of the season they had a fans forum/meeting with the directors. I was under the impression that there were going to be others did I imagine this or have others taken place and I have missed the notice of them
Im certainly not in the know old timer. Im just the average fan im afraid. I wish I was in the know. Everything I say on here is just my opinion. I am though on speaking terms with BSS but we dont communicate that often. Its been a long time since I last did communicate with him to be honest. He has told me things but the stuff he has said was already out there in the public domain already, if that makes sense. I asked him to join us here on this forum which he has done and anytime he has updates over anything, he post them on here as well as other forums. I have asked him a lot of questions in the past but most answers he is just not able to comment, which is fair enough. I wouldnt expect anything different to be honest as if I leaked info, it would effect him and the club. Its best that way between us. Most things he has told me is his own opinions on things and has discussions he has had with DC, which is really uplifting and positive. But as a whole, I know just as much, maybe less than the average gashead. I have never really been that bothered about what goes on behind the scenes. Im just more focused on what happens on the pitch if that makes sense As for fans forum meetings etc, I have lost my way with this too. pirate49 may help with this as he has been to these meeting

no awkwardness here old timer. i would say im prompt with info on here as hardly anyone else does and im home more than out so im usually around to see new info as it comes out. new signings though, 9 times out of 10 im out!
