Poyet declares interest in Colombian star. Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao would be a welcome addition at Sunderland for six months, according to manager Gus Poyet, reports the Sunderland Echo.
All in Jest. Sunderland want Radamel Falcao. However, the jest in which it was said suggests Gus Poyet is well aware he has no chance of attracting the Colombian striker to the Stadium of Light. “Some people say to me ‘maybe you can get a player on loan who changes your season’. Where is that player? Unless it’s someone coming from a bad injury and needs to play, it’s difficult," he told the Sunderland Echo. "Now if Man United want us to take Falcao for six months... We will do. But that doesn’t happen a lot. You need to be very smart in January.”
Poyet struggling to convince targets 1 hour ago TOPICS GUS POYET, SUNDERLAND, PREMIER LEAGUE 1 SHARES Share0 Tweet0 0 0 comments Gus Poyet admits he is having difficulty convincing transfer targets to join Sunderland. The Uruguayan has spoken of his desire to bolster his squad when the transfer window opens in January, with Liverpool forward Fabio Borini - who spent last season on loan at Sunderland - thought to be among his targets. However, head coach Poyet revealed that he has had problems trying to entice players to move to the Stadium of Light. "When you give certain types of players the option of going to London or the north east in the same conditions, 99 from 100 will choose London and that's the reality," he said ahead of Saturday's home Premier League clash against West Ham. "We have to be a step ahead - we have to do things better than those clubs in the south or in other countries in a nice place with different weather. "We need to do something that will convince them to come to the north. "On top of that it is even more difficult in January because clubs don't want to lose their best players, so everything needs to come together." Sunderland are hoping to end a run of five matches without a win in England's top flight when they face Sam Allardyce's men. There's six teams in London. They can't sign everybody Gus. Ultimately money talks, got to entice them in with the signing on fee.
Excuse me gus, look at the teams assembled in recent years with boro and newcastle, with Juninho, ravinelli, Mendez, ginola, Ferdinand, shearer, to name but a few Pay the coin and they will come
Is it Gus who tempts players to come here or is that the DoF's role, it is all very confusing, a bit like a Gus press release in fact. Onward and Upward.
