...great album, but... ...heard on the news this morning that a whistle blower from inside one of the big energy companies has said that all the energy companies have been fixing energy prices. Essentially they've been acting as a cartel rather than being in competition. We had the banks doing it with LIBOR (or whitever it wiz), and we have/had a peado ring (allegedly) in the upper echelons of the Government and at the BBC. What a wonderful country we live in.
Why are people surprised that the energy companies are acting like a cartel? This new policy of making them put people on their best tariff is ridiculous modern headline grabbing mock-politics (1) it pales into insignificance if the energy companies put their prices up 10% a year anyway (perhaps based on a rigged market) and (2) who thinks the energy companies are just going to sit back and take that sort of hit in their profits? They'll just make everything more expensive to cover it! I am very much in favour of the market and private industry - but the private industry that generates most of the business for this country, the small and medium businesses. But utilities don't seem to work in private hands (and also the railways), and this worship of the 'market knows best' idea is clearly flawed (at best).
Scottish Power are a neo-nazi political group in this country. They do sell leccy on the side though to finance their despicable exploits.
I agree, this country sucks. Let's not forget, though, that it's still a helluva lot better than most countries. My biatch worked for the home office for a short while. Some of the stories she could tell you that happened to people seeking asylum chill you to the bone. It sucks here just now but at least most of us can walk the streets without being abducted, having our toes cut off and our children executed while we watch. **** world, but we're lucky to be in one of the better bits of it.

I guess utilities don't work because it's too much bother to shop around. If we were billed each month with the option to pick one of numerous quotes from different companies, then we'd all pick the cheapest and prices would go down.

I don't know all the facts of this, maybe it should be taken with a pinch of salt. All I really now is that Robrt Green, the journalist championing this case, is currently in prison for handing out leaflets to people which promoted the case. Officially, handing out leaflets to promote a cause must is a crime in this country now.
