Apologies for the slightly pedantic thread title which is in response to last week's post Stevenage thread. I don't think either result is conclusive proof one way or the other. However, there were calls on here to recall Hayes and Waggy but Powell stuck to his guns by continuting with Kermo and Green. A decision that was totally vindicated today as both had effective games. I was concerned by Hughes' selection but must admit he did a very steady job in midfield. Special mention for Wiggins...not far from the perfect performance. He was immense today. What a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
hes starting to warm with me now i was a little concerned last year but this is his team hes kicked out all the **** parkinson brought say we are going up
CP has proved he is his own man, keeping faith with Kermo & Green, when many (me included) wanted Hughes & Waggy back (still backing Waggy by the way). The 1st legs of MK Dons & Sheffield(s) threats have gone. Preston & Huddersfield are two big ones coming up very soon. I said at the start of the season, CP will be judged on if we get promotion or not. He must stick by his beliefs, ignore me & others. At the end of the day its his job on the line not mine or yours
He had the foresight to play Hughes at Def.mid. which enabled Hollands to get forward and smash an unsaveable shot into the net.
Whilst obviously its Powell's ability to manage a successful team that is paramount, I do think it's also the way he represents our club that is where he's getting it right. Simple, little things like applauding the crowd when the attendance figure was revealed yesterday. I know it makes no difference to the outcome of a game but there has to be a connection between the fans and manager; we definitely have that.
The difference was he knows what he wants and bought a squad to deliver, when Kermo was brought in to start they got lazy and lumped, he said enoughs enough, tweaked their mentality and that freed up green to play properly etc etc etc etc. Perfect, and with Stephens still to return
"I know it makes no difference to the outcome of a game but there has to be a connection between the fans and manager; we definitely have that". Wish I could make a connection with Parky
