An own goal won Goal of the Season <laugh>

Couldn't make it up. Do people voting actually take notice of the goals?

Really surprised at Abel getting players' player. I'd have thought he'd be an incredibly frustrating teammate.

Can only guess that he's great on the training pitch.

    Abel wins the double.

I seem to disagree with the winner every year... at least this vote wasn't intercepted by tens of thousands of Egyptians *cough* 12/13 season *cough*

Abel a worthy winner of the double.

Amazing that he still gets lambasted by some.

20 goals, many of which have been crucial, in a team which doesn't play to his strengths.

Surely it would have been Gedo if they'd had their way.

Remember when every Facebook post by City was just absolutely spammed with Egyptians asking why Gedo wasn't playing, or telling us "If you need a goal, get Gedo on the phone."

    About right.

When did we last have anyone who got that many goals? Outstanding.

Hernandez hasn't got the appreciation he deserves from a fair few fans. How many years have we been crying out for someone who doesn't need 10 chances to score a goal and now he seems to score with the vast majority of serious opportunities. Gets 20 goals in a team which doesn't really create much for him and he doesn't make a lot of people's top 3? Without him we'd not have made the play-offs. Even if Dawson and Davies were relatively solid at the back and Jake put a serious shift in every game, without Abel we are ****ed.

He'll be gone if we don't go up this season. I've enjoyed watching him as a City player these last two years, just a shame we've not really made the most of his ability by pinging the ball to his head and partnering him with a CM up front.

Probably because the players see and recognise the effort he puts in every game and aren't blinded by the fact he doesn't have a fancy name like Smith or Brown.

You've usually got your head screwed on George but your constant unjustified lambasting of Hernandez is, quite frankly, pathetic if I'm being honest.

I've just got little time for players with his attitude. If he could be arsed every week we wouldn't get so many piss-poor away defeats where we don't have a shot all game because he's stood waving his arms about.

Ideally it wouldn't just he him, but given that he is the only striker who can finish and isn't generally ****e, we rely on him and too often he doesn't deliver. Birmingham away in particular he was a disgrace.

The picture on this article sums Hernandez up well. Diomande is getting a tap in thanks to being alert and chasing a lot cause. Meanwhile Abel in the background is putting all his effort into appearing visually annoyed that Elmo's header didn't fall perfectly to him. With Hernandez's finishing, if he showed anything like the effort that most players do as a matter of routine he'd be brilliant. There's a reason he got dropped for Aluko despite being just short of 20 goals at the time.

You could pick out plenty of examples where he stuck at it and his persistence resulted in a goal, Charlton away for example. That one picture doesn't 'sum him up' in my opinion, you're doing him a great disservice.

As far as goal of the season is concerned I thought Diame's side foot volley v Charlton would have won.

Good team build-up and a fantastic finish.
