Doesn't strike me as a particularly balanced deal whatsoever, especially as I imagine they would require we continue to pay a percentage of Grigg's wages whilst he's contracted to us.

The only way I could see it working is it would either be Shrews getting Grigg on loan for the remainder of the season as part of a deal, or, it's permanent and they take on his entire wage which would help shift a considerable sum.

    What else can we do.
He was overpriced to begin with so we paid well over the odds to wigan to bring him in and no doubt his agent made sure he took our eyes out in terms of wages.
He's the rodwell of the pub league.
Laughable when donald and methven said the 'pisstake party has come to an end ' or words to that effect.
We cant expect the lad to take a pay cut, not his fault we fecked up.
Confident to say he will be on twice what norburn is currently on.
The stench of desperation has been apparent in both our recruiting grigg and our attempts to offload.
Donald has the brass bollox to suggest we should all be buying his mate hill a pint for the great football advice/acumen he provides the club. No coincidence eastleigh were amateur.
    What a joke.

Whatever the case it gets Grigg away and brings in someone with a bit of life in him.

The club aren't pulling up any trees in the transfer market ...

... but they are tugging at a few bushes.

You talk like you know all the numbers. He was overpriced at what? £4m? absolutely - but we will only pay that much if we get to the prem with him in the squad (which we won't) - how much was the initial price? Varies between 800k and 3m - none from the club all from people claiming they know. Yet none of them actually do.

What wages is he on? Again this varies depending upon what you read. It's not massive even relatively but max around £8k a week from the stuff I can find Salford offered to pay £3k of his wages apparently - again conjecture. Most thought Grigg would be a good signing. Most also thought the original numbers were too high. Very few would've thought it'd go so badly. And to compare him to Rodwell is a joke. I have no doubt that Grigg wants to succeed and wanrs to play, he;'s just not good enough

Anyone would think we were the only club who bought players that didn't work out

Norburn is just a run of the mill league one midfielder. We already have two of them in midfield already. Can't we show a bit of imagination in our recruitment ffs.

I'd love to know why we can't get a tune out of Grigg.
He can't be a bad player can he? History suggests otherwise

It is a bit of a mystery... but it is what it is, a non-scoring striker

The idea that Grigg is some kind of prolific goal machine is a bit wide of the mark. He's only hit double figures in 4 out of 12 seasons as a senior pro. After that, his next best is 9 in a season. Admittedly, for some of those seasons he wasn't a regular first choice, but his career stats show that he's always been hit and miss.

That's a very good point mate.

I always remember how Pop Robson/Marco/Goodman used to chase after defenders trying to clear the ball.

It gave our defenders a little time to get into position and often pressured their defence into a poor pass.

Grigg vanishes for minutes at a time.

Grigg really is symptomatic of a lot of our League 1 recruitment. They went for any available player who was part of a promotion winning side and thought, "that'll do the trick!". No consideration given to whether they'd fit in the team or was what the squad needed.

    Prime example: Conor McLaughlin.

That's because it's fake vitriol mate.

It's so obviously contrived by someone only interested in getting a reaction.

There's no real anger, or emotion, just a series of phrases designed to prompt people into a response.

There's no love of the club, passion or respect for fellow supporters ...

... just a collection of idiotic catch phrases trotted out ad infinitum.

Not old enough to remember Robson but remember Marco, Goodman, eve SKP. all used to chase a ball they were unlikely to win but did it anyway

Sometimes a change of manager can breathe life into an underperforming situation like Grigg
In this case however Parky has taken one look at him and dismissed him

so the problem must be something deep rather than confidence or fitness or a tweak of tactics

I don’t think I’ve ever seen him properly engage with safc. Maybe the reality is that he simply doesn’t want to be here

If that was the case, and it may well be, surely the decent thing would be to put in a transfer request, and move on.

You will remember Kenwyn Jones then! (Stop smiling).

Kenwyn defending corners was truly a sight to behold.
If he could have maintained his concentration for a full game he would have made a superb centre back.
But it's Kenwyn I'm talking about and keeping his concentration for as long as a corner takes was about as much as he could manage.
But most attacker's challenging in the air against Kenwyn must have wondered if they would see tomorrow.
