Didn't he do ok where he was (colchester???) maybe they will snap him up! I hope he goes to a league one side, ideally a rival
To be fair to Mooney, I know he wasn't everyones cup of tea but I will be grateful for that play off game vs Swindon where he was immense. I think PP (I'm making Houndals day here ) made the big mistake of continually playing him when he was off form, because at one stage the entire crowd was on his case. Should have taken him out of the frame for a few matches to build his confidence.
It would be interesting to have seen if Parky would have done anything differently in the playoffs this year if he had stayed.... I think it is wrong for him to be sacked
Always preferred '**** off Dave Mooney, we want Wayne Rooney' Possibly the worst striker I've seen at the club apart from Frank Nouble.
There is no way on earth that he is the worst striker thats donned the CAFC shirt ... He had a few decent games, scored a few goals just lacked confidence (Crowd getting on his back didnt help!) .. He showed good form at Colchester had good support from their fans and manager! I wouldnt turn him down on a freebie on a years contract to prove himself!
He had very few decent games and every goal he scored was a tap in. He pussied out of every single challenge, never chased the ball down, couldn't pass, never got forward when we needed him to, never tried to take on a defender and was very slow. Then had the audacity to put his hands by his ears at the fans when he finally scored after a goal drought. The fans got on his back and booed him for a reason.
Well i hope we sign him up on a freebie just to prove you wrong, he is a good player at league 1 level as proved with Colchester. Nothing wrong with a striker who scores tap ins Owen has done it throughout his career and has a superb goal scoring record. Too many fans get on players backs to easily these days hense why we're struggling midtable in league 1... Hopefully your give these new players a chance when they put the CAFC shirt on next season, cos without the fans supporting the players Powell brings in we've got no chance of promotion!
He scored more than just tap-ins, WWOCB. The goals against Yeovil, Gillingham and Swindon were all great strikes. He wasn't a bad link-up player either. Fair enough, he didn't chase much or get stuck in, but tbh I'd welcome him back, seriously.
watching Dave Mooney was like watching an empty crisp packet floating around the pitch. Mooney's an average striker at best for League 1 but average players won't get us promoted, do people want to finish 14th this season? i'd far rather us go for Marlon Harewood
Marlon Harewood aint the best Martin... Besides, I strongly suspect his wages would be a little excessive!!
