Spot on here KJ, a friend of mine who was studying geography at Bristol university told me that they were looking at whether global warming/global cooling was being influenced by man or whether it was a natural cycle in the earth's climate
Too much money to be made from this "global warming " shi**, with Government's globally using it as an excuse to raise more revenue via tax increases and the back handers to new companies buiding wind farms , what a joke, I'm all for the concept of recycling etc but we're being stitched up big time

On global warming, and in particular man's influence on it, if you try and get a government grant to study the mating habits of red squirrels in the U.K you'll be laughed at. However, if you say it's to study the mating habits of red squirrels in the U.K and how climate change has had an effect, you'll get your dosh. Lots of vested interests exist that perpetuate this hysteria. I've done a lot of reading on this (you may have guessed I'm an anorak on various subjects ) and whereas it's obvious that pollution is a bad thing and should be avoided where possible I simply don't believe anything the U.N comes up with. The IPCC - the authors of the latest report - were discredited years ago when they were shown to have falsified data (more accurately omitted data) so it gave an impression that the industrial revolution caused the problem. They left out a huge part of the Earth's timeline that tended to show such changes were cyclical. Now they expect us to believe them? Please. I'm big on protecting the environment and do my bit. Recycling etc makes sense, and we should definitely be taking care of what we've got. But even if the tree huggers are right on this if you think that a few windmills up on the hill is going to make one iota of difference when the Chinese are building a coal-fired power station a week then you're very much mistaken.
On a lighter note I see the Socceroos have qualified for Brazil. I'll be cheering them on as usual but the squad doesn't look strong. Lots of ageing players.

The Earth has been cooling down and heating up for billions of years. Its nothing new that the polar ice caps are melting. In fact the ice melting is just a sign that the Earth is returning to its natural state. We are still living in an ice age that started thousands of years ago, there we even palm trees and many land animals on the poles at one point. Another thing I don't understand is this massive deal people make about extinction. Animals have been going extinct since the beginning of life. I think its something like 99% of all animals that ever lived are extinct. All the creatures and animals in the world now equate to 1% of what there ever was. As harsh and insensitive as it seems, its a natural part of evolution. I understand we be the main cause of some extinctions, but its a natural part of life.
