Here are my predictions for the rest of the season, i actually feared i had been harsh on results and may have relegated us but then looking back after i'd switched off the webpage i did have us beating Man City 11-3 instead of losing 1-3 Post yours in this thread LINK - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/predictor
I'm predicting Villa, QPR and Wigan to go down. Reading to be 17th. I think West Ham will be lower than IMO's prediction...say 15/16th. I think we could finish quite low in the table, but predict a safe points difference going into the last game.
Saints stay up. Don't know about the rest although if Villa go down, it'll be the first time that one of the original founding members of the Premier League has been relegated since we were.
Weren't Norwich in at the start? We'll stay up. No substantial evidence simply the blind optimism that I've developed after 50+ years of supporting Saints!
I can't even call one team to go down right now, let alone all three. I'm fairly confident that the three will come out of QPR, Reading, Wigan, Ourselves, Villa and Norwich, but that's as far as I can predict! (Although I have said since day one that QPR will survive, and I've never really wavered from that. Still think they will).
After the performance on Wednesday I firmly believe we can finish the season on 65 points! Yes that is one hell of a winning streak! It would give us a top half finish . . .
Don't worry guys I have checked my crystal ball. Here's what happens 1 Man Utd 2 Man City 3 Tottenham 4 Everton 5 Chelsea 6 Arsenal 7 Liverpool 8 Swansea 9 WBA 10 Norwich 11 Sunderland 12 Stoke 13 Saints 14 Newcastle 15 Fulham 16 West Ham 17 Wigan 18 QPR 19 Reading 20 Aston Villa
My table reads... 1 - Man Utd 94pts 2 - Man City 88pts 3 - Chelsea 76pts 4 - Arsenal 72pts 5 - Spurs 68pts 6 - Everton 66pts 7 - Liverpool 61pts 8 - Swansea 47pts 9 - West Brom 46pts 10 - Stoke 45pts 11 - Sunderland 41pts 12 - Norwhich 41pts 13 - Fulham 40pts 14 - SAINTS 40pts 15 - Newcastle 38pts 16 - West Ham 35pts 17 - Wigan 32pts 18 - Villa 31pts 19 - Reading 30pts 20 - QPR 30pts Had Wigan doing "a Wigan" and winning on the last day in order to stay up. Tried to be as realistic as possible so Saints results were: Wins against; Wigan, QPR, West Ham, West Brom & Stoke. Draws with; Newcastle & Reading. Defeats to; Man City, Norwich, Liverpool, Chelsea, Swansea, Tottenham & Sunderland The points might be a bit out but I think the final standings could be pretty accurate. Either way if it goes like this it can count as a good season for Saints!
Man utd to win league before last game of the season Arsenal to finish top 4 and win the fa cup Villa and Reading to go down with 1 of qpr, Wigan, saints and Norwich battling for the other. Can see it being Wigan who go down though
I had the bottom looking like this: 16..Villa 38 17..Saints 37 -------------- 18..Wigan 36 19.. QPR 35 20..Reading 32 AFC Pompey to win the Southern League Division One South and West next season
Newcastle were not a founding team no, but won promotion to the PL in its second season and finished 3rd on 77 points! As Channon Walked on H2O said, Norwich were a founding team and finished 3rd in the PL's first year with 72 points. For anyone interested, we finished 18th with 50 points, 1 point above Oldham and Crystal Palace in 19th and 20th, respectively.
Teams in Premier League 1992-3: Arsenal Aston Villa Blackburn Rovers Chelsea Coventry City Crystal Palace Everton Ipswich Town Leeds United Liverpool Manchester City Manchester United Middlesbrough Norwich City Nottingham Forest Oldham Athletic QPR Sheffield United Sheffield Wednesday Southampton Tottenham Hotspur Wimbledon
