    Celtic are set to be handed the chance to retain their SPL crown when they take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle in their first fixture after the split.

    Neil Lennon's men were forced to wait to claim the championship after their 3-0 win over Hibernian after Motherwell drew 2-2 with St Mirren.

    The Scottish Premier League are yet to publish the fixtures in full but STV understands Terry Butcher's side will head to Glasgow on Sunday, April 21.

    It is also understood Celtic will travel to face Motherwell the following weekend.

    The destination of the title could even be confirmed on the Saturday if Motherwell are scheduled to play 24 hours before Celtic, and fail to win.

    The SPL are expected to release the full fixture list for both the top and bottom half of the league later on Tuesday.

    The final five rounds of the season will be played on the weekends of April 20, April 27, May 4 and May 11, with the bottom six playing their final games on Saturday, May 18.

    The top half will finish the campaign on Sunday, May 19.

    The whole problem is Rangers have a home game on the Saturday at 3 pm , police are forcing the game on Sunday , if Motherwell don't win on the Saturday the game on Sunday will be an anti climax . Why oh why don't the spl use their brains and the first game after the split is Celtic v Motherwell , we've already been to Fir Park twice .

    Pile of pish. The game should be a Saturday kick off, but no doubt they moved it as Sky will want to show the game we win it.

    Wee bit of me wants us to make a **** of it against ICT and go win it at Fir Park instead now.

    Motherwell play utd on the Friday night before we play ict on Sunday 21st 12.45 kick off then it's Motherwell away Sunday !! Ross county away Sunday !! St Johnstone Saturday home 12.15 !! Dundee u away Sunday , even the Scottish cup final is the Sunday
