Did you see the interview with Darren Bent after England's win in Denmark last night? Interviewer : ââ¬ÅSo, Darren. Another game and another goal.ââ¬Â Darren Bent: ââ¬ÅYeah, Iââ¬â¢m very happy. But I do want to take this opportunity to say thanks to Steve Bruce for getting me here. Without him, I would have still been wallowing on the bench at Tottenham. He came along and saw the potential in me. With Mr Quinnââ¬â¢s backing and Mr Shortââ¬â¢s money, Mr Bruce gave me the chance to prove that I could be a regular Premier Division goalscorer and thanks to that, they and the incredible Sunderland fans who took me to their hearts got me into the England team and have now enabled me to prove that Iââ¬â¢m also a goalscorer at an international level. I must also say that Iââ¬â¢m really glad that we ââ¬Â¦ sorry, they are scoring goals regularly without me, two a game I think it is, and if they can get their defence back to its clean sheet best, then Sunderland will stay up there with the best, which is where I hope Villa will be one day. Can I also tell all the fans up there in Sunderland that it wasnââ¬â¢t for the money?ââ¬Â You didn't see the interview? Neither did I.
Bent is a great goalscorer (Inzaghi-style: "born offside" as SAF puts it) and I'm glad we've got him doing it for England but the whole episode still leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. I hope I will soon be able to move on and we can do as the Guardian says, go European and put Sunderland back on the map. The next few months are very important, not vital, but very important. I'm looking forward to them,
Chats - I'd be proud of that little piece of journalistic poetry myself my friend. Top quality and if Judas had a conscience he would have said it but what selfish, egotistical EPL footballer has that kind of humility in him? Hope daddy Bruce catches up with the little scamp sometime soon and has a 'word' with him in that daddy to deceitful, ungrateful daughters boyfriend sort of way. You catch my drift
Nice one Chats................ For once I wasn't bothered about the match and certainly didn't want Judas to score n ever thought I'd feel that way about England even used to support Mary Poppins when he played for them.
