Yes, he sounds like an intelligent and thoughtful player, and Hess is obviously interested, but my interpretation of the situation with Gills is that I think its a matter of 'watch this space' for a couple of weeks yet.
Gills are looking at further striking options, (

a. They won't be panicked into making quick and therefore potentially unrelaible decisions and
b. They play their cards very close to their chest when considering their options.
The pool on which they can draw is still quite deep. There are still a huge number of out of contract players, or players that clubs would be willing to let go on free transfers. And then there's the possibility of loan players coming in when squads settle down in the coming weeks, and clubs assess their playing assets and requirements.
Personally, if we are to get another striker in, I would prefer to see an established player rather than a young loan player. The bottom line is that we will need goals.
