Heard tonight from sources within the club that the next 2 games could be make or break for Chris Hughton (maybe after the Palace game next week). I heard that CH was told in no uncertain terms that after the Fulham game performances were not good enough considering the financial outlay on players who havent lived up to expectations and if results don't improve quickly the Canaries will look to and take a chance if available on appointing former Canaries favourite Man Utd No 2 Mike Phelan by the end of January. Apparently there is little or no chance of Malky McKay being the next manager. Im going to the bookies to see what odds this is going to happen in the morning with the possibility you may lose at Palace next week. As a QPR fan looking in I still think you would be a pretty useful side with Holt, Morison and Becchio leading your attack and I know both Holty and Morision fell out with CH big time with the style of football that CH plays which is no doubt whilst their form tailed off. Anyway good luck for the rest of the season and although I don't like Norwich when you play QPR I always hope you do well when you don't. I think you will stay up this year.
Is this a source within Carrow Road, or your own club? Care to drop their name, role, or favourite type of cheesecake?
Doesn't really bother me what goes on at Norwich, but the above comes from the people that makes the decisions at NCFC and is more or less first hand.
If it turns out to be accurate, my apologies, but the idea of McNally and/or Bowkett sharing their thoughts on the club with anyone outside of it seems pretty unlikely to me. With regards the actual idea, I've got no idea what Phelan would be like as a manager, so it's hard to say whether it'd be a good move or not.
All I will say is the immediate future of CH depends on a positive result next week at Selhurst Park and if things don't go to plan Mike Phelan will become the number 1 target.
My God I hope your 'source' is wrong or that you are on a wind up. I would rather stick it out with Hughton than trust a man that has only ever been a number 2 with our PL survival.
Cheers Carrabuh for your kind words. Im off now but have absolutely no reason to wind any Norwich fans up cos my family are all season ticket holders at Carrow Road and I have a soft spot for the Canaries (except when the Rs play them). Just see what happens in the next few weeks and good luck for the rest of the season.
Heard tonight from sources within the club that the next 2 games could be make or break for Chris Hughton (maybe after the Palace game next week). Always like these sorts of rumours. Could be Bob the program seller; maybe John who works in the car park; or perhaps it's Linda who waitresses in yellows. Three letters spring to mind: WUM
It must be his family of season ticket holders, perhaps they overheard something from someone who isn't important
If you actually read his opening post you would see that he think we would be better off if we still had Holt and Moro. As for the purpose of the post I too would be surprised if this kind of info was leaked, but stranger things have happened. I would be surprised if we lost against Palace and CH remained in charge.
I am not going to dive in and tell the OP he is talking out of his backside, and would not be at all surprised if there was something in what is being said here. A defeat to Palace this week could well be the final straw for DM & Co, despite the more encouraging performance yesterday.
This thread is kinda stating the obvious? Can't see RVW, Fer, Hooper and a few of the others sticking around for Championship football. But I can't see anyone wanting to buy RVW from us and a few of the others that have under performed this season. For Mcnally and the board relegation would be an absolute disaster now as we have splashed the cash in the summer and have some fairly high wages, well for Norwich anyway and some on long deals. If we lose to Palace I can't see it going on from there to be honest as it's starting to look a bit bleak for us now. I can't see Mcnally letting it just happen and I don't think he will.
No, I'd expect us to lose a lot of those players, but I don't think we'd be screwed. I don't really think last summer we suddenly started dishing out contracts without relegation clauses, etc, so that we can reduce our spending to championship level (with parachute payments) reasonably quickly. We'd then need to make the most of having a largely intact squad and parachute payments to bounce back up within a season or two, otherwise yes we'd be screwed.
