Hey guys, new poster here. Just wanted to share thoughts ahead of our next league game coming against Hull. We're pretty short on numbers now at the minute and I wouldn't put it past things worsening over the International period knowing us. With these players out: Ozil Ramsey Arteta Theo Gnabry Koscielney Debuchy Giroud Chambers (sus) We will have to look for internal solutions. Our back 4 will really need some shaking. Injuries may have forced us to look pretty quick and dynamic in attack but on the other half of the pitch we look maybe less convincing. Here is my predicted line-up which I believe will be forced upon us. --------Alexis-----------------Welbeck--------------Oxlade -----------------Wilshere---------------------Santi --------------------------------Flamini ------Gibbs--------Monreal--------------Merts-------Bellerin/Coq That back 4 scares me a little but is this the best possible selection? If not what should change? Should a more natural central defender in Hayden or Ajayi be thrown in? Coquelin or Bellerin? I'm a big Bellerin fan but skeptical about his defending whilst I believe Coquelin has established himself in this league before could be a safer choice. We could go back to our original formation with Santi in the No. 10 role. I really like the idea of that front 3 though could be as effective as Suarez, Sturridge & Sterling last season, all 3 individuals pretty comparable to our versions. Anyway, thoughts?
It's pretty scary isn't it? It's pretty terrible what a big injury list and a small squad can do! I'm hopeful that Kos will be back for the Hull game so would go for a backline of Gibbs----Kos----Merts---Bellerin. This doesn't look too bad to be honest, especially against Hull. I'd quite like to see santi in the 10 role, as I think it'll mean Wilshere giving more protection to Flamini, IMO the front 3 picks itself, though does mean no start for Campbell, Podolski or Rosicky. And it could be a good time to start one of those...
I have no idea on Kos' situation but if he could be back for the next game then things aren't as dramatically bad as initial thoughts BIG difference to be honest. If Rosicky was to come in for Ozil then it may mean we persist with our overload of creative players when we'd be better off just playing wingers on both flanks (Alexis & Ox). Podolski has let me down to be honest I'm quite ready to see the back of him. Campbell deserves a chance and should replace Ox as our impact sub with Ox starting more.
I agree with the line ups and I think we should have enough to beat them but I'm thinking maybe we should have two deep lying midfielders in Rosicky and Flamini to supplement the defence and increase our solidity. We should still be able to create enough. OXO----WELBECK----SANCHEZ ------------CAZORLA------------ --ROSICKY-----------FLAMINI---- GIBBS--MON----MERT----BELERIN
Yeah I would agree with the 4-2-1-3 just to give the Back Four a bit more protection. ---------------Sczezney------------------ Bellerin-----BFG-----Monreal-----Gibbs ----------Flamini----Wilshere------------ -----------------Carzorla----------------- --Sanchez-----Wellbeck------Sanchez-- My main concern is Monreal. He's lightweight for a fullback as a Centreback he's just plain miniscule. We might struggle at set Pieces so our best strategy is probably to just go for the throat and attack from the outset.
Welcome aboard You'll find that this place is a peaceful and respectful family of Gooners I think Kos is supposed to be back for this game, so hopefully our back four won't be too changed other than Bellerin at RB who in my opinion will become a top class fullback. I agree with you about Podolski, I think he's got one foot out of the door to be honest. It was quite revealing that when Wenger was last asked about him he said that there 'is no transfer window at the moment, so Podolski plays for Arsenal', that speaks volumes to me and I think he'll be off in January. To be honest, Sanchez, Cazorla and Campbell should be ahead of him on the left anyway. I'd like to see a bit more of Campbell, although he didn't really do much against Dortmund the whole team were poor, but I thought Campbell and Bellerin handled themselves pretty well in that game.
It's funny what us fans know I think we all thought podolski was the better buy when he and giroud came in. And I know giroud has his critics but in an arsenal shirt he's been twice the player poldi has been on his arsenal form I have no idea how he has over 100 caps for germany
To be honest, with his work rate I'd have him in central midfield as well, and probably as a second striker...
