    Playing three at the back?

Mightn't this work if Sunderland decide to sit back (as they have done in the past)
I wouldn't expect them to get forward much so the threat to our back three is limited and it allows us to play more attacking players.
Play Sagna and Santos as RWB and LWB respectively with Wilshere, Arteta and Cazorla in the middle.
Play a front two of Giroud and Walcott.
    Thoughts?

He is not great at defending but not too shabby going forward.

3 at the back you'd need defensive stability.
Nacho, Sagna & Merts could work if Diaby, Arteta, Wilshere, Cazorla are in the middle. Would leave Pod, Giroud & Theo up top.

    Could work.

Irrelevant. Seeing Santos anywhere near the team gives me cancer.

Are you suggesting we play one CB?

3 at the back doesn't literally mean 3 at the back.

    That's your opinion though.

We only have 1 CB. Unless you want Squid and Miquel in the team. <ok>

We will sit back, even against reading we sat back MON didnt play his new signing Danny graham and we Sunderland fans were very miffed at this. He gave far too much respect to reading.

We have played 4-5-1 all season, I cant see MON playing 4-4-2 although what I can say is that miracles do happen!

Jenkinson is capable of playing at CB, Koscielny might still be fit, I remember when we signed Sagna that Wenger said he can play all across the back 4, there's at least 3 options; then we can look at Miquel, and then if there are no more options, Squillaci will be called upon.

Hopefully he won't be called upon. That would be the worst thing to happen to this team.

It's interesting, especially against a team that wants to pack the midfield - may make the midfield even more conjested though - with your usual 3 (Wilshere, Carzola and Diaby/Ramsey) in the middle as well as Sagna and Santos also we'd then need Mert, Nacho and probably Jenkinson in our back 3 - with two players not used to playing in that position and our main defender being quite slow - and only one player our of our back 5 with any height on him. But with the right personnel it could work (say with Kos and Vermaelen with Mert in the back 3, and Diaby in MD).

Sagna has played CB, Kos may well be fit.

3 at the back could literally mean 3 at the back. It usually means 3CBs & 2 WBs who play up & down, but it could mean 1 CB & 2 more defensive FBs.

    It's an option :)

If Kos ain't fit, Squilachi will most likely be starting alongside Merte, :).

Imagine we didn't sign a new LB, both Squilachi and Santos in the back 4 together, what a frightening prospect.

It's things like this that has made me question Wenger and his future with us. He loans Djourou out, and does not buy a CB. Which top club only relies on three CB's? Mapou Yanga-M'Biwa was available and we ****ed up, again.

It's a common theme though isn't it? Playing players very much out of position.

    Arsenal are currently under-stocked at:
    GK
    CB
    DM
    ST

Pod, Giroud, Theo is a great front line, but there needs to be at least one more class forward competing to play in that lineup. Next in line at present at Gervinho, who just hasn't seemed up to it this season so far.

I hope I'm wrong now he's back, I really do. This summer, with a few players out of contract and hopefully more shifted on, I'm really hoping there'll be some quality players brought in. Top4 is the first step though.

Ox is 1st choice backup and Gnarbry is in line to move towards the first team when needed.

Other than that I agree, Szcz is getting more sloppy without any challenger for his spot, We got rid of Djourou but that may be because Wenger now prefers Miquel. DM, less said about that the better and striker, yes please.

Well in Wenger's head we have 4-5 CB's, not just 3, he has the likes of Squilachi and Miguel in mind.

Don't see what's wrong with Miquel and Squillachi should be fine for a 1 off game against Sunderland if he's needed)

No. Just no. Squillaci is never "fine".
