Now fellow Canaries how about this for a possibility. We sell JR to Chelski for say £10m and pcik up Fraser Forster back from Celtic? Nice little earner and would we be satisfied overall? Interesting conundrum I reckon. Your thoughts please.
this idea was mooted a few days ago and i think it makes sense but i do not believe we will sell ruddy unless chelsea make a ludicrous offer, and i think that would be more than £10m. i'm on record as saying i'd snap up mark schwarzer for a year and then we have less pressure on us to find the next ruddy
I agree with carrowcanario, we are getting offers from Chelsea on JR despite the fact he spent half last season out injured, i think Chelsea know his true value at the moment is around 10-12million, imagine what we could get for him if he has another solid full season this year! I wouldnt resent him going next year either to be honest, as long as he was leaving for first team football.
I also think that Celtic would hold to ransom on Forster, much the same way that they are dragging out the Hooper deal.
a few of the papers have reported that we turned down chelsea's second bid of £6m. £6m? if that's true then they don't seem to be that serious about matching our valuation. i suspect it's true that they've had word from ruddy's advisors that he'd be interested in the move and have decided to try and bully us by using the media - hardly a new tactic for the big boys. i don't think mcnally will be bullied though. bottom line is, we don't need to sell.
Spot on Supers. I hope he stays for at least another year and I'm sure Celtic would want most of whatever we get for JR for FF - even though he's not worth NEARLY as much as JR!!!!
Just been announced Chelsea have signed Mark Schwarzer on a 1 year deal on a free transfer from Fulham, hopefully this puts an end to their pursuit of Ruddy.
That'll hopefully keep the wolves from the door. Hopefully there will be a big influx of young English keepers which Chelsea can piss off and try to unsettle, I must admit they do have a lot more class then the likes of Real Madrid at doing that though.
Its quite bizarre, I'd never advocate a club of our size signing a goalkeeper for 10 million, I'd see it as a bit of a waste of money. But once you've got one, they really are invaluable and just not worth selling.
I know what you mean, I would have been nervous to see us spend £10m on a keeper but if we sold JR for that id want to see all the money used to get in a keeper of the same caliber.
That's not entirely logical though.A goalkeeper like Ruddy can be worth as many points at one end as a good forward is at the other.
