With the rumours rife that Juventus cannot afford Aqua I wondered what everyone opinions are of him coming back?

I personally don’t know where to put him in, he’d be good to have on the bench but with Raul slotting in and settling quicker I wouldn’t want him left out at Aqua’s expense.

If we did get him back would you have him as a starter? Or would you prefer that we just sold him to fund a winger or a left back? And all this depends on if he actually plays the same way here as he has in Italy..

Both him and Meireles could play the same position, when Meireles comes off with 35 mins to go, Aqua would slot in nicely to provide some craft.

He's a fanny, and not in a good way.

I think we should cash in on him, there are better players out there and better players at the club.

Who are the better players at the club?

Don't forget, we need strength in depth throughout the entire squad, and this is what's costing us points currently.

I never bought into Roy's assertion that we were overstaffed - the wage bill might be too high but that's a separate problem which Kenny7 the board must address

I think it'll hinge on the budget available, there's no doubt he'd be great to have in the squad but if we haven't got a lot of funds available then perhaps his sale would be best to fund a winger or part of.

Out of all the players that are out on loan,he's the one I would bring back.Tom Werner said the wage bill isn't too high...He said it isn't high enough. He did say that the average age of the squad is too high, and that is something that he does want addressed and that was the main reasons for the signings of Suarez(24) and Carroll(22).Expect some of the older players like Jovanovic and Maxi and Poulsen and Konchesky to be moved on.

There's also rumours that they want to sign Denilson from Arsenal so they must have some cash and they are trying get Del Piero to extend his contract. IMO they have money but they want to exploit us and get Aqua on the cheap..

Here's my team for the weekend and this is just a suggestion.
    Reina.
    Carragher.
    Skrtel.
    Agger.
    Johnson.
    Kuyt.
    Mereiles.
    Lucas.
    Maxi
    Gerrard
Suarez. Its a 4-4-2 thats an adaptable 4-4-2 that the system can change but also the players can switch positions.

Just goes to show they are trying to rip us off pretending they have no money and offering less than he is worth. I peronally think he's too lightweight and not suited to the premier league anyway - but that's just my opinion.

Sorry for the late reply Jonesy, I'd say Mereiles and Gerrard would always be ahead of him in the position he prefers as an attacking midfielder, i'd also rather see Suso or Pacheco played in that position when needed as cover in the coming seasons so I say sell. Would he even want to come back knowing he would be down the pecking order? I actually quite like him but just don't see where he fits in.

We haven't got the players for a 442, 442 needs quick pacey wingers like Spurs have with Bale and Lennon or United with Nani and Valencia...We should play a 451/433. Kuyt and Suarez either side of Carroll for the 433.

I think recent games have shown a lack of depth for midfield creativity. He's got that.

Yes, there are other players out there. There are also other players out there who may not settle and would cost us a lot more. We've already paid for Aqua and he's had a season in Liverpool to get an idea of PL footy. He actually wanted to stay to prove his worth but once Hodgson's style was established he didn't want to come back. Ché sorpresa.

Now that our direction is definitely upwards, we have new owners looking most excellent and a string of top players telling Comolli they'd gladly sign for Liverpool now, he may want to come back, especially if Juve are struggling for funds.

Aqua would give us more depth for free and allow any available funds to be directed where we're weakest. I think I'd rather have him than Charlie Adam.

Aquilani and Adam are different types of players. However,I reckon we should be aiming for higher than Charlie Adam. There must be other players out there that play the spray passing role like Xabi Alonso. The fact that Damien Comolli has targeted both Fabio Contraeo and Moussa Sissoko, both fit into the NESV blue-print is a start. These are the standard of players we need to be aiming for,if not Contraeo,How about Gregory Van Der Weil who has been getting rave reviews.

I wasn't suggesting they were similar styles. I'm talking about resources. Aqua has something and he already knows the Premier League. Plenty of managers have said it takes a season for outsiders to settle. Ronaldo took two seasons. Would you rather take a loss on Aqua to get another midfielder if it means less to spend where we really need it? Let's not start thinking FSG have a bottomless wallet for a fantasy wish list just because they were prepared to spend £35m of the Torres money in an emergency. I'm saying we need to prioritise other areas but a little more depth in midfield wouldn't go amiss. I'd rather have two top players with Aqua than spread the funds around three cheaper players.

keep him and insua aint too bad either, get rid of konch, jova, poulsen, and the rest of the dead weight. sign a LB insua can provide cover for their and we have a good cover in CM without spending a penny, then we need pace in our team and all is looking good :p

Personally the only way I would keep Aquilani is if we can't sell him.I we can sell him, then he should be sold.He isn't the type of midfielder we actually are short of.What we are short of is a midfield general and a playmaker.Aquilani is neither.Thats unless Aquilani is brought back to be the natural successor to Gerrard, but he has a lot of things Gerrard has except one...He cannot tackle. He is like Mereiles in that respect. One of the reasons however to keep Lucas is Lucas' tackling is actually improving. He's not at the Mascherano level...yet,but he's definitely above Carrick and Anderson in that respect.

We are starting to get along KingPepe, so I don't wont to start an argument.
But, why do you have to bring United midfielders into the discussion?
What has this thread, which is about improving your team, got to do with Anderson or Carrick?

You were talking about the tackling ability of Lucas compared to Gerrard and Mereiles.
I could understand if that last sentence had read "but he's definately above Mereiles and Poulsen" But why Carrick and Anderson?

Or do you only measure a player by whether he is better than his opposite number at Old Trafford?
