Hoilett and Traore, Hoilett in particular. Best game for us in a long while.

    Doyle, another goal.

    Morrison available next week.

We're not playing a top six team for a while.

Not to many today tbh. We have to many loanees at the club which is why were not playing as a team. Reading looked an improving team today and whilst individually there not as good man for man they have a settled squad who play together week in and week out and most are all players who are not loanees

The only positives that I can see are that:

1 We haven't spent heavily all season and gambled everything on going up first time. Perhaps if we had we wouldn't be having this debate now but that is water under the bridge
2 The remainder of our early mistakes who we haven't been able to shift must surely be reaching the ends of their contracts. The loanees will all return to their clubs and look forward to their next loan signing as they spiral their way down the League. I predict they will regret having wasted this opportunity. Does anyone still believe that Assou-Ekotto has a future at Spurs?
3 Redknapp will go very soon.
3 A new manager who has an eye for talented younger players and is given the time to develop a team can now come in. The emphasis must be on youth, talent and time to develop - not previous track records and reputations. Unless a miracle does happen we are now very definitely in it for the long haul so, once again let's not try to rush things.
4 Hopefully FFP will lead to our club's finances being run on a sound footing. The one thing which does constantly amaze me is that a man who made his fortune by selling cheap flights to the Far East and therefore clearly appreciates the need to obtain value for money has been so heavily seduced by reputations and the need to have a big name manager.

The risks are that players like Austin and Matt Phillips will not want to stay because one of the newly promoted sides comes in for them

Good to see Hoilett finally stepping up to the plate, Traore always looks a threat as well, we just need to get the ball to them more. I thought Will Keane looked like he could be useful and Bobby looked much better than he has for ages. The best team won today but we had few nearly moments and with a tiny bit of luck it could have gone our way.

Read his comment with disbelief and just googled it,not hard to find. But keep your blinkers on and hope for the best, maybe the football league will ignore the 50-60 million wage bill and -£63 million transfer budget.

At least 15 of them are out of contract this summer, virtually all the big earners too.

Massive positive that I couldn't go so didn't pay to watch it. Empty seats again. I know it's tv and timings have effected other games but I think it's more down to the crap bring served up. Certainly don't remember it from last promotion season!

You will need to do what we have had to lads ... ship out those that are happy to take daft wages without giving a lot back ... your owners are also more than wealthy enough to wipe out the debt by converting it to equity (as ours have done) ... so I think your long term future will be fine ... but you might need some 'hard pruning' in the interim... I have to say that I have been both surprised and delighted with our progress this season ... lots of young hungry players in the squad, grateful for the opportunity that they have been given and (currently at least) looking little further than the short term success of achievable with our club ... good luck to you for the rest of the season with the exception (which I hope you understand) of your visit to ours ...

Its hard to come up with positives after a dogs dinner of a performance like that but I do remember a couple of years ago, the Hammers were in the top two all year yet fell down into the playoff places. The fans were apoplectic with rage and wanted Allardyce out. I can recall a talksport phone in where every West Ham fan wanted ToadFace's head on plate. Yet despite their form being woeful they went on to win the Playoffs at Wembley.

    It ain't over

So glad to see you were paying attention even though you clearly can't read. I was expressing my relief that this season we did not compound the mistakes of the three previous. At least we know our spree is nothing compared to the mess your countless owners over the last ten years have inflicted on your lot. Is there any chance that you might actually find one who has two farthings to rub together? When you do and we've stopped laughing come back to our board.

It's taken me a few days to reflect on this; but one positive I noted was the reaction of Nico Kranjcar after the third goal.

He went into what I can only best describe a 'bull mode'.

He took the kick-off, beat a couple of players, and if I recall correctly, he either laid off the ball or shot. It reminded me of Terry Phelan's run (and goal) after Tottenham went 3-0 up at Maine Road in the FA Cup Quarter Final in 1993.

I am sure that he and David Hoilett also had another passage of play, where they each played and returned a one-touch pass, slicing open Reading and setting up Joey Barton who shot narrowly over.

I only mention these as it struck me at the time that if we had approached more of the match with this pacey, one-touch football, we might have found ourselves on the back of another home win instead of lamenting a painful defeat to our promotion rivals.

Perhaps Harry will show these fleeting moments back to them and remind them of what they can achieve with a bit of pace and guile.

In the meantime, here's the Terry Phelan goal.
