Start with the positives, obviously the three points are massive as are the three goals which hopefully will see us finally kick on and start putting a run of good results together, a lot of hone games coming up and we must make the most of them. Mignolet - I've been a critic of his when it comes to positional sense from set pieces but there's no doubt about it he is one hell of a shot stoppper, more than once this season he has reminded me of a certain Peter Schmeichal. Two crucial saves yesterday won us the game. Rose - Love this guy and hope we sign him up, his pace and tackling ability are great and he has a cool head and a touch of class to boot. A proper left back Cuellar - Great header for the goal and is improving all the time. What I like most about him is that he can pick a pass, sometimes it might not come off but it gets us going forward with an extra man when it comes off. Cattermole - I don't care what anyone says on performances like that he should be in the England squad, absolutely top notch. The three amigos - Johnson, Sessegnon and Fletcher. These three are the key for us. Johnsons best game so far, super pass for the goal and had a nice dig too, stretched Fulham with some proper old fashioned wing play. Sess worked his socks off and not alot was coming off for him but my word what a strike. Fletcher is pure class, give him a chance and he'll score. Simples. Negatives. Oshea, i had to look closely to see if Gary Breen had snook on to the pitch, he was absolutely tragic yesterday, foul after foul in stupid areas that we were fortunate weren't punished, he was backing off constantly and his passing is atrocious. Id prefer Brambles in with Cuellar. Larrson, time to drop him now as his failure to track his man is costing us goals now. He's doing nothing creatively and isnt even taking set pieces so he really is a liability at the moment. The last negative for me is that I wish we'd put them to the sword. I think if wed really gone for it we could have gotten 5 or 6. Beggars and chooses and all that though eh. Feeling a lot more positive today though
I'd agree with most of that. Sess has been pretty poor this season, but yesterday I saw a player who was trying things all game but just seemed to be a yard off or was just on a different wave length to those around him. I didn't see a player who looked like he didn't want to be there. Glad he got the goal and it looked like every single outfield player came over to congratulate him - which will hopefully help his confidence and motivation. Commentator also said his family have now moved over so that should help too. Negatives.... Colback runs out of ideas 20 yards from goal, can't pick out a decisive pass or testing shot and is costing us chances. Might just be a confidence thing like Sess, but I'd have Vaughan or Gardner in there and drop him to the bench for a while. McClean has been found out. Number of times yesterday he had to cut back onto his left foot (including once where he was defending on the edge of our box ). Too predictable at the moment. And like the OP I was a bit disappointed that we were so quick to play the back to the half way from inside their box. We've struggled for shots this season never mind goals, when we are 2 goals and a man up and putting pressure on them; let's get everyone on the score sheet.
Totally agree matey. Sessegnon is still trying his socks off and I was so pleased to see him score l, the pressure will be off his back ever so slightly and we may see the best of him in the next couple of weeks. Colback needs to be swapped for Gardner ASAP, I'm a big fan of both but jacks not be great of late so I'd drop him. He needs lessons from Craig about how to shoot and lessons from catts about how to tackle.
Worried that Fulham were running rings round us at times - and they had 10 men. They certainly looked far more dangerous than us!!! Bart
