On the plus side, you can cast iron guarantee that we'll pull some exciting signing out of the bag within the next week as a PR firefighting exercise. And some people will lap it up and clap like seals having fish thrown at them.

So who do we reckon? Scott Parker?

Considering Burney's tweets it seemed appropriate to bump this. Perfectly timed to make people forget about the real issue, and many will swallow the fish like clapping seals.

Get in one or two quality midfielders would be great, its all about the ability of the TEAM and how they perform that counts. All the rebranding is a business decision. If we have a good season(s) to come thats good enough for me. Too many people are not open minded enough to think outside the closed mindset of the past. No I don't have a crystal ball, nor do I disrespect peoples views. The beauty about free speech is that we all have a voice wether we agree with others or not. My post is just that, my OPINION not wether I am right or wrong which allows me to challange views I disagree with openly.

I don't think the player will play as well under the new name.

I assume we can only juggle haddock, or is it ok to juggle cod in this type of situation?

The whole fish thing's always confused me, though I am happy to say recently I've been strictly a haddock man, and I much prefer it to cod now. Weird eh?

This coming week could be one of the bestest ever for us.

No-one is stopping you having an opinion, i certainly ain't.

The main issue i have is with this as a business decision, its a horrific one. Newcastle aren't the Toon Army, Man Utd aren't the Red Devils, even Cardiff didn't change their name. Nothing like has proven to work before, so why would it for a small club in Yorkshire? If it was that good'er idea some bigger club would of tried it.

This is not a business decision, this is Allam trying to show he is in charge.

A gift to this city? Not anymore.

I never liked fish at all but I've ended up liking battered chip shop fish all of a sudden, I've never actually had a cod from the chippy but I've ate my daughters cod fish fingers on more than one occasion, but I have had haddock a number of times which was rather delicious.

A man from Hull admitting to liking River Cobbler is nearly as bad as the club changing it name.<laugh>

Not denying that, but he said when he bought the club it was a gift to the city and a gift to the fans. He even said, i will find the quote that i am the custodian of this club for the fans.

Also if the queen declared war on France would you agree? If David Cameron gave all the countries money to bankers would you agree?

If someone is in charge they should still do what is right for the greater good, (hot fuzz reference), not what he wants and what he thinks is best when its clearly not.

This decision is not based on business its based on the Allams having a toy to play with.

I respect that you're standing up for your beliefs, but criticising supporters for being happy at new signings just marginalises your opinion to the extent that you're starting to sound like the nutter in the corner.

Im not criticising fans for being happy with new signings, Im criticising those that will be distracted from the bigger issue.

The biggest issue facing us now is survival in the EPL and the chance to put this club amongst the elite long term.
It's likely some other clubs our size will go into admin and even liquidation in the near future and this is our chance to make sure we're not among them.

The re-branding is an emotive subject but not the "bigger issue". Mr Allam is hoping we all get used to the new name and eventually prefer it, but if resistance continues long term on a large scale he will eventually have to concede to the supporters wishes.
I hate to say it but TWT.

That's fair enough, but bear in mind not everybody is too bothered about the name change. It's weird, everybody I've spoken to online is up in arms about it, but every City fan I've spoken to in person or over the phone is like 'meh, it's still the same club, but with a different name. Don't get so stressed about it".

I'm a bit tired of it all now. It's pissed me off, I'm less pissed off now; I just want to get back to the footballing side of things and kick on for the new season. I still don't agree with the name change, but I'm not going to call us Hull Tigers and if other fans take the piss, then fine, they've been doing it for decades anyway.

Got to say I don't agree with you on this.

One of the biggest problems we had last time we were in the Premier League was in attracting players to Hull. Our "Heritage" counted against us. If the name change helps attract players from Africa or the Far East then I would say that's good. I accept that it may not work, but must be worth a try.

If the name change attracts new sponsors, especially from America or the Far East then that is also good. Again I accept it may not work, but Allam does know what he is doing in that field, so why not let him try.

Whilst there may be limited evidence of a name change in footballing terms there is plenty of evidence of a re-brand or name change helping businesses to succeed, and at the end of the day we need the club to be a successful business off the field as well as on.

Mostly I think there is a massive over reaction to the proposed name change. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, and I understand the stance of those who don't like the idea, but I think if we are to survive in the Premier League long enough to become established, then we need to think outside the box, adapt, and be different.

I may be in a minority, but I doubt it. Don't mistake not being bothered for apathy. It could be that they don't mind rather than being passionately opposed to the idea.
