We all love Bristol Rovers, especially when they are winning, the threads are full of positive quotes and happy gasheads. "mind you some people are pessimistic even when we are winning" usually City fans though View attachment 25532 The flipside to this is when we are doing badly, the threads and comments are full of fans"what ifs ,moaning and groaning and blaming statements". Whilst everyones entilted to there own opinion however boring or moany, may I suggest its time that we all adopt a more positive appreciation of Rovers, team, manager and club, as its far to easy to fall into the trap of being negative about the team we support through good and not so good times. Some people just think I have had enough of this:- "All we need is a football team with new players,a different manager, directors who care". So this thread is for positive contributions only, that make us feel good, even when we have just lost. View attachment 25533 Post some of the good (not so good but funny),hilarious and heartwarming things that happened to us referees or our football team during the game, weekend, so we can to take into the next game believing it will be better. "Every win, every loss, every game, every save, every tackle, every goal, it all counts". COR View attachment 25534 CJ will you please make this a sticky if you think that its a worthwhile Thread to keep going. Thanks
IMO the main reason we get the negative comments is because as Gasheads we are sick and tired now of the same old out come every season we never used to be like it when we were at Twerton and when we first moved back to Bristol we just want a bit more success once in a while.
brunt got 20 mins run out. build up his fitness this week, we may get 45 - 60 mins out of him next weekend. thats a positive. maybe he will get totally match fit by the time we meet city.

Just an amusing bit. Terry McCarthy was filming at Eastville for Television Wales and the West. I believe it was Harold Jarman's 100th appearance or something. Standing next to the post on the goal line during the warm up, Terry called out to Harold " Common mate, giveus a shot" Harold blasted the ball at him, not the modern balloon, the old leather one. It hit Terry's 16mm Bolex camera slam, bang alacazam down the camera lens. Terry came into work on Monday morning with bluest quarter on his right eye, you would ever see. I think his film was transmitted, but I can't really remember.
just to add extra weight to this..... 3 games played in the league so far with 2 defeats. both defeats was due to winning goals coming from ex gas players goals against us. danny coles winner for exeter and andy sandell yesterday for newport. the game we didnt lose whcih was agaist scunthorpe, they didnt have any ex gas players. york also dont have any ex gas players so no ex gas players can come back to haunt us. surely a win or draw in our next game!
Mr John Ward needs to explain to his young chickens that when they play football they must understand that the ball belongs to them. It is our ball and they should share it between each other and be very possessive of it. He must also make it clear that those other people on the pitch in the unpleasant and unattractive shirts are nasty, selfish people who will try and steal our ball and keep it for themselves. If they want a ball they should go and find one of their own. So he should explain that sharing the ball with those other people by kicking it to them must stop immediately, because they will not give it back to us. We simply cannot keep finding money to buy new balls because under the FFP rules Mr Ward will not be able to have sufficient funds to give them their weekly pocket money! Mr Ward must also stop the practice of the team tackling their opponents from behind as it is quite clear that referees, who are obviously not politically correct, see this as an unnatural practice and will instantly blow their whistle to prevent the act developing any further to avoid embarrassment to the spectators who may not wish to see what could happen if it were allowed to continue. However Mr Ward, who obviously is politically correct, is totally in favour of his boys giving kisses and cuddles to the boys in the Blackthorn End as that keeps everyone on board with the 12th man image and unity of our family club.
Loiking the Jarman story Saph and the ex Gas players is soo true some one needs to look at the stats and see how many ex Gas players have scored against us and won the game Zebroski did it last year!! Agree the opposition should supply there own ball as our balls are expensive saph, kisses and cuddles for the 12th man all for this as well in the right quarters G79 a win is a win Rovers directors should ban selling pasties in the ground to people who who suffer from digestive issues. The JPT is to be televised on SKY Wednesday @7.45pm for those who are unable to get a ticket and still wish to see a local derby. Both teams will receive £10,000 in TV revenue for the game.Extra coffers for the transfer or loan market if and when we need it. Should partly offset policing costs!!! (Sorry...initially pressed edit button in error.............not for the first time!)
According to Dave (aka Rodders) it will be full of City fans that is why we can only have 2200 ish tickets. So the split of the Gate should be decent leaving us a wedge to spend in the transfer or Loan market ,not sure if Ward wants to spend more money as Higgs has stated he would rather we survived on existing team. Agree the policing costs will be ludicrasly high to keep the hoolies at bay. On an even more positive note Brunt should start today at last a striker up front!! COR View attachment 25676
We won worth celebrating. Thought that Lockyesr should play in the middle of midfield not out on the wing as he is good at breaking play up as he did for one of our goals Gill got ten minutes too early to say if he has turned a corner and fits into Wards team or not so wait and see on that front positive we have another player back though. Thought Santos did better when the ref started protecting towards the end of the game blimey was the ref a softy or what any slight player contact and he blew up for a fouldl and even sent there player off for an innocuos foul ?still he was consistent I suppose. The pen was a crock but as a Rovers supporter I would say that wouldent I. Overall three points off the mark yipeee COR
