Well, as FA Cup games go That has to be one of those days, Where we came and turned on a show And Posh were left quite in a daze And although mostly second string We were never under much threat, Which must have left young Fergie aching Us hardly having to break sweat So what could potentially have been A banana skin under our feet, We manoeuvred like a Formula 1 team Speeding away quite smoothly and neat And great for the likes of D. Fox And Bennett E. who bide their time, This year with the bench-warming flocks To show that they´re not past their prime It will help to keep on their toes Those who stand ahead in the row, And also it definitely shows The strength in depth we have here now So commiserations to Posh Who put up not much of a fight, And must have felt under the cosh On a day they could have dealt a fright Now we await on tenter-hook To see what the next draw will bring, But no doubt on this win we´ll look With gratitude when we´re ´Tooning. OTBC Enjoy your week all, Yours
Great stuff RBF was a great day out for the boys chance to see what a football stadium used to look like! Now they won't moan about the Jarrold!
Hi RBF, it seems hard to believe now that most of us had some nervous reservations about this tie! Professionalism prevailed in the end with barely more than a jog!
Just pleased we went into it in the right frame of mind, could easily have gone arse over whatsit ( for ex. Newcastle), and this was a vital win to help get us back on track.
Mate we were excellent today and if we had taken the chances we had in the first half we would have been 3-0 up by half-time. Anyhoo not to worry we came away with a lot of credit in the bank as we fielded a weakened side.
So sounds as if A. Villa still looking a bit wobbly then, and Mick is beginning to find the right formula with your lot.
All I wanted was for us to win by more than one goal and great team selection. CH is proving to his doubters that he IS the man for the job and would love a repeat of last season's score on Sat!!!
This is the worst Villa team I have ever seen and I go back 40 years of watching football. They were absolute gash and there for the taking. Definate relegation material this year
Did you see the game on a stream or did you manage to get there JWM? Obviously Villa won, but on a score of 1 - 10, how would you rate both teams?
I went to Villa Park today Maestro and we played some really good football and should have buried them! Don't take this the wrong way but when we started singing "You'll always be Scum, You'll always be Scum, **** Off Paul Lambert, You'll always be scum!" Even the Villa fans started to join in!
RBF my lads always moan about lack of choice of food in the ground today?, well I've seen better school tuck shops ( and its 40 years since I saw one of those ) and as for the loos ! Believe me they will never moan again!
I won't lose any sleep over that mate As long as there are 3 teams below us at the end of the season, I will be happy
Very pleased indeed with today's performance. A number of times recently we've fielded a second-string team in a cup competition for what appeared to be the sole purpose of losing, so we could concentrate on the league (or at least not worrying too much whether we won or lost). I must admit, I was expecting more of the same. This was nothing like that - these were players (I'm talking here especially about the fringe players) who had plenty to prove, and didn't disappoint. Today made me feel very proud of the whole squad we've assembled.
