"Administrator Trevor Birch has revealed that the club's financial problems are so bad that they might not be able to continue competing in the Championship this season." Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...timistic-Portsmouth-rescue.html#ixzz1nxhRdshP Well play Harry. Great manager
Very very sad for the club and everyone associated with it - one of football institutions hangs by a thread and things aren't much better over at Port Vale. Proof where irresponsible overspending can get you. That said, you can't blame 'Arry - he, like every other manager, is given a budget by his Chairman and spends accordingly, I doubt very much whether 'Arry had the ability to spend the money he did without his Chairmans approval. I know nothing of the salaries at Portsmouth during his time but transfer spending was approx net £44m from 2002-2008, and he of course left for a period in the middle of that so was probably not responsible for all that spend. For the record and by way of comparison, Chelsea spent just short of £300m in the same period...
I have been to their stadium a few times. Bit of a dump but they seemed like a good community club I hope they get out of it. However Harry is to blame. He always manipulates the media and fans to want more spending. It really is a joke how he operates. Manipulates everyone to overspend and then leaves before the **** hits the fan.
We'll have to agree to disagree. I refuse to believe that the entire purse strings to the club were handed to 'Arry in eitehr of his spells at Pompey, and more importantly that he overspent enormously given the content of my first post). Maybe put this across the ompey board and get their views ? May be interesting...
I highly doubt its just harry or even mainly harry. But everyone involved at the club needs to take responsibility. And the problem was most obvious and depressing in their fa cup year. Didnt they give out bonuses for the fa cup win that screwed them over? And they signed many poor players on big wages. Harry needs to take a portion of the blame. Of course he wont do though as the media darling that he is.
The problems are due solely to the owners/directors who have badly mismanaged the finances (in fact I'd say it's all rather suspicious). What a shocking state of affairs for the loyal fans. I'm sad that any team should be at the mercy of administration and likely closure. A black day for the fans.
harry is'nt to blame,he can only spend what is budgeted to him for players, and that is determined by the board.in the last year or so the club has had 3 owners each one had no money to clear debt's,perhaps the new rules put in place by the fa will stop this
