I agree, but, if we're going to have a successful season you need to build momentum and make winning habitual not losing. Watching the Burnley game we made them look poor, we stopped them getting a foothold in the game, no one can say we've been lucky. In fact yesterday the ref should had booked 3 or 4 of their players and we get a card for a seemingly innocuous challenge.
In three years when he lifts the Champions League Trophy after we beat Real Madrid he will stay for a long time
Decent enough first half but magnificent second half. What a group of young players we’ve got, and I had no idea wingers were built like Wilson. What a season this team is gonna have, top 2 for me.
Couldn't really find much to complain about in first half but it was obvious they weren't quite at the tempo and level of past two game. I had a feeling Regis would have a word and they would come out a bit better. They came out about 3 gears higher and Pompey couldn't cope!
Hopefully he ends up being too good for them. Would be sickening to see him tearing it up in black and white
I've put this on fb... with the words. "No team photo, just the lads loving it". It triggered a couple of my mag mates.
Nicked from X. Update. Luke O’Nien was so bored of not defending this season that he’s decided to stick one in his own net. Just giving the rest of the league a chance. A man of the people
I heard he was pissed off about not scoring in the last 2 games, so he decided to get some practice in for the Plymouth game
Feel he has that in him in abundance. Still very early but I noticed a few times in games we werent pushing to secure a result, we were pushing to improve the scoreline! 3 up on 86 yesterday, free kick in the corner and we tried to score a 4th. Awesome imo
Just watched the extended highlights. Chris Rigg plays a part in all three goals. He actually plays a huge part in the second goal at launching the counter attack. Countering at pace seems to be Le Bris’ thing and I love it.
On rewatching the Mundle goal a few times, it's absolutely fantastic. The challenge by Rigg, the close control dribbling of Mayenda (the ball is never more than 6 inches from his feet), the layoff is perfect as Mundle doesn't have to break stride and the finish is top drawer. The scenes in the away end are tremendous as well.
yeh Mayenda was utterly perfect for that goal. The way he took it off Rigg as he was the one running at pace, then the run itself, the check back, the layoff. If we had signed a new striker and he’d done that we’d be going mental. its exciting stuff. As if he keeps getting confidence we have a real player there.
Mundles about 20 yards behind rigg and mayenda when they pick the ball up too, our speed on the break is something I’ve never seen in a Sunderland side before, lightening
