Just wondering what angle people take on Portsmouth being given yet another winding up order. Do you take the sympathy road, that it's harsh on the fans who pay to get every week and that they are about to lose their club or do you take this sort of view Does this guy have a point? It does seem unfair on teams with much smaller debts? The quoted poster sort of makes the counter point at the start of his post. There are assets their much more valuable than Darlington's
We have been linked with Jason Pearce today, i wouldnt mind us buying Luke Varney as a Leicester lad. He would be decent option off the bench, or offer then 2M for Fratton Park and rename it the Leicester City stadium
First off all it's not the Pompey fans fault, so I thought that was a little harsh blaming them! As a fan of a club that nearly went under owing millions and (according to mr twitter fan Warnock) cheating our way to promotion I can empathise with there current plight. Pompey, darlo, whoever, I hope a solution can be found. And here's a thought, should Pompey have a points deduction, will Forest or Cov get a reprieve!
I felt sorry for Pompey the first time, but could never understand how they hung on to the quality players they did last season. That didn't seem right. Now they're in trouble again, not surprisingly. I always feel for the fans, but what can you do? You can't let the clubs go unpunished. Maybe the individuals responsible for getting clubs in debt should go down, and this nonsense of docking points should stop. Selling off players should be enough punishment.
But a few years ago they sold Peter Crouch, Lassana Diarra, Jermaine Defoe plus a few more for bid money. They got around 45M for them and yet that didnt even clear much of the debt. They have been very badly run in the past and the fans are the ones who are suffering
Wasn't there something whereby they had huge Cup bonuses written into their players contracts thinking they would never win the Cup anyway. Of course, they then did and have suffered since then. The sales of those players were done out of necessity and any money raised had to go to paying the costs. By the way, I'm impressed that not a single WUM has come and said that this will be us in a few years. Cue the inevitable...
