Sunderland travel to Port Vale in the Carabao Cup Last time out, Sunderland beat Wigan and Port Vale lost at Northampton. Port Vale have been drawn at home to Sunderland in the first round of the Carabao Cup. (Aka - League Cup) Vale were placed in the Northern half of the draw and landed the North East giants, who will be looking to make their way out of League One this season. The Vale played the Black Cats last season in the EFL Trophy, losing 2-0 at the Stadium of Light in January. They also met in the FA Cup, in the 2018/19 season, Vale losing 2-1 in Burslem in the first round. Expected Team View from the opposition: https://www.onevalefan.co.uk/forum/topic/48544-match-thread-flc-r1-port-vale-v-sunderland/ Really looking forwards to it first game back at Vale park seems like a eternity to me since last went to see a LIVE proper game v someone I already see we are predicted to lose too which is not as a fan who is expecting a surprise win and a lover of Vale wants be reading . SO my team as I believe you have to have the right players on the pitch in the first place to even remotely give Sunderland a game so here it is feel free to disagree. Stone Cass Legge Johnson Benning Pett Walker Worrall Conlon Rodney Proctor . Big game but if the players believe they are beaten before a balls kicked then that would be a terrible thing some worrying comments coming out the club like a room where the players families can be kept away if there dads had a poor game etc that would suggest to me that they have no belief in themselves, as a player you must always strive to play well ok at times you just do not but lets not have negative talk of how good Sunderland are in the dressing room let's big Vale up and tell every player this is it this is why your a professional get out there and do your name and the club a world of good . Looking forwards to it lets get in that hat and that means we have played superbly and we have believed in ourselves . My two pence: A good performance and result against Wigan has lifted spirits somewhat with the new signing's impressive displays Port Vale lost their opening game of the season 1-0 away to Northampton and this will be their first home game with fans allowed back in. I'm expecting Lee Johnson to make a number of changes either giving the first team subs a run out or using a lot of the U23s. I’m going for a 2-0 away win. Live stream: Nowt legal. Ha’way the Lads
another great thread and i agree with your assessment, even giving the young lads a run out i still think we will have too much talent for them
Ticked away win, but really meh who cares.. None of the 1st team to play, ie those that played most of the game on Saturday
Nice one RTB, think I'd like to see Dan Neil given a run out in midfield, either from the start or replacing Pritchard who'll probably only get an hour, we should still have enough to win the game with your team.
Been here, seen it and won it. We don't need to risk any first team players in this competition this season, play the kids and fringe players only for me.
Am I being a bit thick here but is this Caraboo cup a replacement for the Pizza cup we won last season or is it what used to be the League Cup? answers in plain English please.
It's the league cup first round mate. We have Lincoln, Bradford and Man UTD u21s in our group for the Papa John's.
Loads of changes, I hope the young lads give a good account of themselves. Great thread, as usual. I can't see any streaming info released yet but I'm guessing it will be a tenner.
Of course I want us to win, but I also would like to see that team put out. Rest the first team players, give the youngsters/fringe players game time. Although it was great winning a cup last season, it wasn't an FA cup (which we're not going to win yet ) and it wasn't promotion.
Always want to win but the result really doesn’t matter here, all about the league. Pritchard is the only senior player I’d have in the squad.
I’d be playing the first team and going all out for the win. Hope we try and get as far as possible in every competition we play in this year. Winning breeds confidence. Having said that, I won’t lose any sleep if we lose so have put myself as a ‘who cares’ vote.
Yeah I just checked and iFollow dont do league cup games so it probably wont be available. There is no info on the safc site yet.
I'd still like to see us go on a run in the cups rather than get knocked out early. Just not with the first team. More proper game time for other players to develop and more games for us to follow.
The most contradictory post ever. Hope we go as far as possible but don't care You will care if geads embleton onien stewart gooch etc get injured in a cup game
