I have a feeling this could be another drubbing, we are hungry for goals and relentless......5-1 Town
The biggest banana skin is complacency but i dont think McK would allow that to get in our players heads, the prize is in sight, the culmination of months of hard work usually in the dark and cold is coming to an end and no doubt the big bonus for the players is almost theirs if we can just keep going, and so far the tickets sold for Tuesday is 26000+ so we have to beat Port Vale any way we can then the prize gets a little nearer, im just loving the optimism and enthusiasm of this season so much that the wilderness years of the Evans era seem light years ago, i ll never forgive the bastard though.
And two red cards at the weekend. They’re in a right old state. Hopefully their circumstances turn out in our favour.
Gotta be another drubbing. And if lady Luck goes our way, as others have said, we can go top. 4-0, up the Town!
Quite honestly B A if we play like we are doing and dont have a horror show i cant see any team outside the Prem living with us at Portman Road, and from some of the Prem matches ive watched i would back us against a few of them, that may sound grossly overoptimistic but thats the reality, hope thats not the kiss of death.
I said that recently, I'd think some of the lower level teams in the PL would struggle against us. Seems like everything is perfect at the moment...being a town fan who's had to put up with years of disappointment that's also worrying me, i just can't quite bring myself to believe we're not going to f**k it up. A real test for us will be if we go behind in a game as it will feel like such an alien concept
Like essentially all of you on here, I'm feeling optimistic for this one too. Port Vale have had a few suspensions, their manager has just been sacked, and they look in freefall. Not many League One clubs can come to Portman Road these days and get a result. I think we'll stroll to a 3-0 win. We're on the home stretch and it's all about clear heads and not letting the pressure or expectation get to you - players in our recent past have struggled with this, but I think we've got a focused group of lads with a manager who knows what he's doing and has actually maximised the use of resources at Ipswich.
We can put that one to bed, we slipped up against Cheltenham and the response was the opposite of bottling it. Even with the psychology bang on the money, in footballing terms we face tough tests on the pitch against Posh and Barnsley so it’s far from done yet and vital to take the points tonight.
We did slip up a bit against Cheltenham, I thought we played well enough in that match, but shows you what one mistake can do, it's fine margins. But we didn't go behind in the match, the last time we were behind in a match was against Sheff Weds on the 11th of Feb...how crazy is that.
I think we might be getting a little carried away with quality of our team. Yes, we are probably the best footballing team in this division, and can see us definitely top half finish in the championship IF we get promoted, but to say some of the Premier league clubs will struggle against us is a bit far fetched in my opinion. We are definitely on the up, and if we carry on the momentum, add a 3 or 4 more quality players, then i think the Premier league won't be too far away.
Youre probably right Stretchy im just enjoying riding this wave of enthusiasm, optimism, and the atmosphere at Headquarters, after years of disappointment and dejection i dont want this bubble to burst yet.
