I'd have taken the draw because we've been so poor recently, but all these late goals are doing my head in. We've come to expect it now, but you can't help hoping "please just this once don't concede", but no. OK a draw was a fair result, but at the end of the day we've lost yet another 2 points by succumbing to late pressure.

I should imagine our opponents all know about our frailties come the closing moments of the game - this is where we need new blood in the defence because I don’t think apples is the man to boost confidence in the squad

Shows how we've come down in the world when we're happy to settle for a draw against a mid table L1 team. Expectations are that low
With the players available to us yesterday we’re a mid table L1 team and will be until we sort our awful defence out and get someone like Kinsella in the middle - hopefully if we land JCH the forwards are looking ok :emoticon-0148-yes:

All true, and nobody is happy about the currant situation. But yesterday, we went to Burslem with an injury hit squad and no confidence. And Vale gave it the big one. We nicked a point. In itself that is a good result. I've seen a certain revisionist theory that Duchatalet wasn't so bad really. He was there we started off loading scouts to save money.

So this season is pretty much over. But we can begin to prepare for next season. We are where we are.

I've just looked up the stats on this game.
Port Vale had 29 shots (12 on target) to our 11 (4 on target).
They won 12 corners against our 4.

Sounds as though we were lucky not to get beaten, despite being ahead three times.
