It's only a small point but was it only me that thought the 'ironed on' poppy badge on our shirts looked rather cheap and nasty ?
Much preferred Readings, which seemed embroided and a lot classier.
I think the shirts get auctioned off for charity and can't say I'll be bidding if they do.

I bought Cissé's last year after watching the match at the Britannia.

A good deal - I think my winning bid brought a donation of circa £80 to the Royal British Legion.

I heard that Taarabt's shirt went missing, turned up late, then ended up at the local neighbours! :)

With great respect, that wasn't my point.
My point was it looked cheap, tacky and more for the advertisement of Lotto.

How did you get to bid for it Sku? I'd be happy to donate in this way, though its a shame if our version is a bit tacky. Completely immaterial who's shirt it is/was.

Hello sb_73 - the Royal British Legion have their own 'shop' on eBay and listed this up last November.

    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/The-Royal-British-Legion/

Yesterday's are not listed yet, but I will keep checking and post a link if and when they do.

I was happy to buy this way given the reassurance that it was an official RBL shop rather than a private seller.

Cissé signed across the poppy too!

I couldn't give a **** about the quality of the poppy. It's the fact that we remember those who have paid the final sacrifice that's important.

Are Wigan playing today? I wonder if James McClean will wear his?

If he hasn't learned his lesson by now then the lift don't go all the way to the top with that lad. His silly protest at Sunderland last year sounded the death knell for him at that Club. He lost the fans and that can be disastrous for a young player. His form and career have nosedived since then.

He had his reasons which, although you may not agree with them, are understandable. It is freedom of choice even though he doesn't seem to realise this is about remembering ALL who died for his freedom of choice...

Maybe so mate but principles don't put food on the table. If he had anything between his ears at all he would have worn the shirt and not brought an avalanche of sh*t down on top of himself. McClean has previous too. He wound up the Northern Ireland fans so much by slating them on Twitter that a few of them threatened to kill him. Stupid is not the word.

This time last year you went into great detail explaining to me what the Poppy signifies and you even posted up a link giving me all the info. Unfortunately I still haven't a clue as to what it actually represents! (My fault, not yours Soopy). I know the history of it, the fields at Flanders etc but just who exactly does it commemorate? All British war dead? All British war dead from the two World Wars? All Commonwealth/Empire war dead? All Allied war dead? All war dead from the two World Wars including the Germans? Does it include war dead from recent conflicts such as Iraq, Afghanistan etc?

Can you dumb it down a bit for an idiot like me Sooper? :D
